Music, Music, and oh yeah - MUSIC!!!, picture a feeling that all of a sudden just washes over you and is so mindboggling that it nearly gives you the ability to levitate off the floor and lasts for around 40 minutes, now multiply that incredible feeling by 42, and you've almost got the feeling I get from playing Music, almost. It bothers me to call it a hobby or interest, it is without a doubt the best reason I see for not snuffing it, I wouldn't be able to play if I rushed my end. I think sometimes people forget their problems for a little while when we play for 'em and what kind of pitiful arse berry would stop if he thought even for an instant, that, to be the case, yeah I guess I show some interest in Music, it's magic, & for me it's medicine.
Music
Music is the first recorded medicine. No pills, no powders, no pin pricks, just God setting up a gig for a for a polished up kid named Dave. Dave had a sound together baby, don't you know it, he says to THE MAN: 'Hey Daddy-O thou hast made me thus, I'll go where ya send, dig?' The MAN answered and said: 'play for Saul the King his guliver stings, he's fighting a battle he can't win. Play for him son, the war WILL be won & from this day Music will be medicine.' That's how I see that Bible story and I'll always think of music as Magic and Medicine, therapy for me, to say the least. I love it all 'cept for maybe Rap & new Country, well polkas can get old pretty quick and some of this Contemporary Christian stuff makes me chuckle a tad 'cause they're trying to reach the world by acting like it, and it don't work like that, it looks like if they were so in tune with The MAN they'd know that.
Movies
.....Make heros out of people who merely memorize someone else's words and then spew them back out in front of a camera. Still cant help but love a good Comedy, and the 'true story' deals. Rock on Patch Adams, John Nash, Ray Charles, & Johnny Cash.
Television
Rarely turn it on unless its in tandem with Mr. VCR or DVD player & that puts me in control so there's not a buncha bleedin' commercials trying to tell me what I gotta wear, say, do, think, or feel, to be somebody. Screw that, see the people behind the Tube want us to all be a bunch of "Lambchops" You remember Hollywood Squares, the little sheep puppet the lady had, cute little thing huh? It's name was Lambchop. That's what the "programming" exec.s want out their in Tele-world a bunch of thoughtless sheep that they can brainwash into thinking they just have to have this brand or latest, hottest 'one of those' to fit in, be accepted, & be cool. Now hear this lambchops.......Cool is Being Who U Want / What you Want, and NEVER wavering. If you ever allow someone to define cool to you and you alter who you are as a result, you're a Lambchop. Selah, nuff said!!!.....and oh holy night, the bleedin' reality crud that's spewing thru the airwaves, I would say don't get me started but it's too late, gotta say a bit on that now. In a few years kids are gonna be really confused as to what reality really is. Ya know I don't know what happened to those folks from the 70's in our neighborhood that got wealthy by eating bugs & living on an island and being voted off by being total jerks to each other, dang we were so deprived that we just had Gillian's Island and a Father and Mother (both in the household) who'd overhear us kids arguing over something stupid that Gilligan had done and say "ain't gonna be no fightin' in this house boys yer brother's right that cockamaimy plan wont get 'em off the island, but heck boys keep in mind TV is just fantasy.....NOT reality, there's no way anyone would allow people to stay on an island like that in Reality". We've come along way baby.
Books
Anything King, Jung, Keats, Poe, Frost, Norman Vincent Peale, Max Lucado, C. S. Lewis, Tolkien, Orwell, Huxley, Paul the Apostle, Jas Obriecht, and of course Frued for a laugh.
Heroes
Police officers, Firemen, & anyone who has ever served in any branch of the U.S Armed Forces, & anyone, espcially local city officials and politicians who will get behind, stand beside, stay behind, and work to further the Youth / Music scene here in our dreamy little town, I feel if elected officials would help, they would be heros for alot of young folks around here & what young person wouldn't want to get behind their hero once they reach voting age.
About me: John Belushi, Robin Williams, Eddie Van Halen, & Sammy Hagar all jizzed in a cup and inseminated my unsuspecting mother while she slept. I am the result of their twisted labor of lust. I am happy to report that it worked like a charm. A full life = people & there's no big mystery really, just place EVERYONE you know on the same "shelf" in your mind, they'll be able to pick up on the fact that you've given everyone equal respect and they'll dig you for it. To the fancies that would scratch and scrape so as to stand atop the top shelf, I would say: ' Relax 'lil puddin's everything ur tryin' to flash and show has been thrust upon you and is merely on loan. All we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.<mspmb
Who I'd like to meet: Jack Black, Wolfgang Van Halen, Mo Osteen, Ted Templemen, Matt Bruck, Don Landee, Gene Vincent, Bill Haley, Edison, Jesse Marcell, Travis Walton, Milton Berle, Jackie Gleason, Robin "daddy" Williams, Tom Hanks, John Glen, Lindsey Wagner, Ozzy, "Uncle" Heuy, "cousin" Jerry Lee, "uncle" C.S. ,Carrie Fisher, Bernadette Peters, Peter Griffin, Gillian Anderson, the Funk Brothers, and of course folks like B.B. King and Buddy Guy, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Nat King Cole, Etta James, Ben E. King, Ray Charles, the list is huge, it goes on and on but I can't leave out good old Dr. C. J. I leave off with a quote from him: "The artist's life cannot be otherwise than full of conflicts, for two forces are at war within him - on the one hand the common human longing for happiness, satisfaction and security of life, and on the other a ruthless passion for creation which may go so far as to override every personal desire.....there are hardly exceptions to the rule that a person must pay dearly for the divine gift of creative fire"
