Reddæ sjøl- we hate Syk Panikk!
The first time I met Syk Panikk their drummer had never played by himself, the bass player kept time but not tune, the guitarist played as if his dad, Mussolini, had kept him and his guitar trapped in a hole for a decade, dipped him in acid, and placed him on stage, and the singer… one hand in his pocket we could barely sense his toe tapping whilst spitting out words – like some teenage mutant Mark E. Smith possessed by Iggy.
And they were still in secondary school.
Some memorable concerts (they owe drum skins to misc. schools in suburban Oslo) and demo recordings later, not to forget witnessing their amazing dugnad-spirit (like we say in Norway- if one has to miserable, everybody has to be miserable), we were unable to maintain our distance (alright, so I’ve been involved for a while – how could I not?). We hate and Syk Panikk have officially joined forces for the greater good.
Syk Panikk makes all of us who hated our teens want to invent a time machine, travel back, and make up for lost years. Why fumble blind through your prime time, when you could kick some fucking ass ‘till you’re old enough?
Syk Panikk knows how it’s done.
And after a few concerts, some recording sessions, and general shenanigans, it’s not implausible that Apollon and Tiger will add a new record to their shelves some time in the future.
