Cara aka Weirdgrrl's Blurbs |
About me:
Although my formal education focused on veterinary medicine, I have been a writer my entire life. I transitioned into film in 2006 when I attended the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers' 16mm Film School, during which I wrote and directed my first short workshop film, "No Time Like the Present." I went on to be accepted into Herland's IN:Camera Workshop, a juried, 10-day intensive film production workshop. My IN:Camera workshop film, "Persephone," was later screened at the Herland Film and Video Festival in 2007. My first independent short, "Coda in G Minor," screened at the $100 Film Festival in 2008. (Check out my "Coda" blog.)
So this is where you can read about my film life. But if you want to read about my day-to-day life, check out Limes with Orange.

Who I'd like to meet:
Creative, think-outside-the-box types. Plus anyone who inspires me or anyone who is inspired, in turn, by my work. (Hmm, I think it's safe to say that the second group is probably a subset of the first.) Oh yeah... and Sarah Polley, so that I can give her my feature to read and see if I she would be interested in directing it!
I was posting Eventful demands here, for musicians that I would like to see play in Calgary. But for now, here's a poster for my screenwriting instructor's film, "Walk All Over Me." A film whose cast includes people that I was certainly thrilled to meet at the gala after party, including Tricia Helfer and Lothaire Bluteau.
