About me:
I am an American who has lived in Germany for over twenty years. I live in a remote region, called the Rhön. During the day I work as an export manager and a technical translator for a regional company, and in the evenings I write novels, blogs and sometimes poetry.I joined MySpace to keep in touch with people who speak English, because I am loosing my ability to remember words in English. Most of the time I speak and write in German, even though everything I place here is in English. Some people believe I am well-spoken, but I assure you it is all deceit. I keep an English-German dictionary next to my desk. Since I can type up to 350 keystrokes a minute, I can maintain the illusion that I am well-spoken, while I quickly look up those words I cannot remember in English. I used to speak English fluently with an American accent, but the Germans told me when I arrived here, that Americans don't speak English – only the British speak English. After recently seeing an interview with some artist on MTV, I suddenly noticed there weren't any subtitles, and didn't understand as single thing the artist said, so I am beginning to suspect the Germans might essentially be correct on this one. Nowadays I speak English with an odd German-American-British accident, which makes me sound distinctly foreign, no matter which language I speak. I have latent psychic abilities. That is, I do not actively cultivate this talent, and prefer not to speak about it with strangers, because many people find it perfectly frightening when I inadvertently second-guess them. Because I am a reluctant psychic I do not work in this "profession", and do not perform oracles, readings, séances or the like. Most of the time I would rather be a normal fun-loving kind of person. Besides this profession would not suit me, as I feel more comfortable in jeans and tennis shoes than in ragged satin dresses, four inch heels and black lipstick. Not that I don't like getting dressed up. But when I do dress like this, it's scary because I taller than most men, which is scary, so the heavy-metal wicked Goth queen w(b)itch is just not quite me. I am an aspiring paranormal author, who has just finished a book (in epic) length, which I hope to have published soon. I am still looking for people to test-read it, so if you are interested, please drop me a note.

Judging by my Visual DNA, you might guess I am a passionate person. Correct - dix pointes! But the object that arouses my greatest passion is about 36 feet long, and has immaculate white sails, and cost well over 100,000 Euro. I live and die for sailing! The centrefolds I drool over every month have exotic names like Beneteau, Jeanneau, Bavaria, Dehler, and Maxi. Since purchasing such beauty is out of the question at the moment, I attempt to find people to collaborate in hiring such a pleasure for a couple weeks at a time. If you feel like cruising the seas, which inspired Rembrandt, Van Gogh or Odysseus, drop me a line, and perhaps we can plan a great escape.
Who I'd like to meet:
Help! My IQ used to be something about 100 – I think – but now I live in the middle of rural region with simple country folk, who barely graduated from 8th grade (not all, but the majority of them). For this reason I desperately need to meet intelligent people, who would tell me anything new and interesting, since it is so difficult to meet people where I live, who speak of something else besides alcohol consumption, and child and farm animal husbandry.
I live and die for verbal interaction, and rely on my MySpace friends to preserve my ability to remember English.
Therefore, I tend to enjoy correspondence via email, and IM dialogues. As a result I tend to become somewhat obsessive when it comes to letter friend, and place lesser value on comments, since your words and not your borrowed pictures mean the world to me.
Should you decide to write me, you will find me fairly open-minded. Hardly anything you could write me would shock me (maybe surprise me), as I have live amongst the Germans for years.
My screen name, Weißdorn, is German for hawthorn, and has nothing to do with "White Thorn". I am not a white supremacist, and dislike people who promote white supremacy.
While I find religion and politics fascinating subjects, respect your opinions, and will even discuss them with you, I shall not be persuaded to convert to your faith- so please spare your sermons.
