Sep. 15th, 2007- Largo-Three years ago, Dionte Hall made headlines as the victim of a racially-motivated attack when a man draped a hangman's noose around his neck at a Largo fast-food restaurant.
This week, his younger brother suffered a similar attack when he was assaulted by a boy who called him racial slurs at Largo High School. It happened Monday, according to his father.
Now the father, Chris Hall, is calling on the State Attorney's Office to charge the student with a hate crime.

Sep. 13th, 2007- Largo -- A former Largo police officer who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography will spend five years in federal prison.
U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew sentenced Jamie Bogdan, who now lives in Fort Myers Beach, on Wednesday. He served as a Largo police officer for 2 1/2 years and Authorities said Bogdan had downloaded 1,700 images of child pornography of victims ranging in age from 6 months to 13 years old.
The court ordered that Bogdan serve his sentence at the federal prison in Coleman or a prison facility in western New York.

Detectives have arrested a retired New Jersey police officer for possessing child pornography. The investigation began when detectives received a tip on Tuesday, May 7, 2007. When confronted the suspect, 62-year-old Peter Kochen admitted that he was in possession of a VHS videotape containing child pornography. Detectives seized the tape, which they say included sexual conduct by a prepubescent child. The suspect told detectives that he had purchased the tape from an overseas source and received it through the mail. During the investigation it was also determined that the suspect is a retired police officer from Plainfield New Jersey. Detectives and postal inspectors referred the case to the United States Attorney’s Office for prosecution in Federal Court. Detectives were later notified that Federal prosecutors felt the case should be handled in state court.
You'll also be glad to know that, Kochen was released on bond, within 7 hours of his arrest. Also, because he is a former Police Officer, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Officer is refusing to give out his address.... but don't worry, we're gonna find out and post it all over the Internet.
