Schwa Grotto, I'll break down the name to help it sink in.
A schwa is a phonetic symbol used to show when two or more letters are used together to create a new sound.
The Schwa Grotto, is a place where music embodies that same philosophy. Free of restraint, ignoring taboo's,
and creating new sounds.
Schwa Grotto consists of Nick Noble - Lead Vocals, Micheal "Bob" Boweter - Guitar, Andy Worwood - Bass, backup vocals, Michael Green - Drums, and Wilford Prater - Backing vocals, percussion, keyboard, and guitar.
We are musicians that make music for ourselves. For the sake of our own love of creation.
Founded by Nick Noble and Mick Boweter, who were both drummers and members of another project. They began writing songs
that were catchy and fun, so they picked up a bassist in Andy Warwood. Also a member from a previous band, and began
playing shows as a 3 piece with Nick playing drums and singing.
After a brief stint playing bars and all age venue's locally, we picked up our first drummer Sergio who's tastes in music mirrored
our own. We played together for years playing the salt lake city bar scene before recording our first album "Children of Kolob", named after a dogmatic mormon belief in the planet Kolob. They eventually parted ways with their first drummer and grew in size to include not only a new drummer in Michael Green. But an all around talented vocalist, keyboardist, guitarist, and percussionist in Wilford Prater. A long time friend and also former bandmate.
Schwa Grotto's sound is experimental, psycadelic, and bold. Often heavy, or ethereal, humorous, high energy, or even soft and harmonic,
each song has its own personality.
Schwa Grotto is true to their name. We don't care what genra or style we play. So long as each song is an evolution in our music, and ability.
Always progressive, and honest. Schwa Grotto strives to play music for the masses, while secretly laughing on the inside at what a big joke
this existence we call "reality" really is.
