Wellsville
Wellsville's piano-rooted alt-rock is just what the soul demands. This is music that kicks up the energy of rock and roll but doesn't forget the emotive side of things in the process. Their poignant songwriting reveals a deep understanding of humanity. Downright infectious tunes leave no one behind in their quest to entertain and enrich.
Writing
The joy of creating is a huge part of the draw to music for Wellsville. "Having the opportunity to perform our own music makes us feel alive." It might be fun to perform a cover of another band's song but there's nothing like doing your own music, especially when you know the songs you're writing are uniquely yours. With the originality that saturates Wellsville's work, it's easy to feel the same pride as a fan that the songwriters must feel, knowing that they are composing music that brings something new to the table and inspires audiences who hear it.
Live
The live set is where the truth really comes out around a band. Lots of acts can do their thing in a studio, but how many can lay it out right on stage? Wellsville passes the test with flying colors and feels peak energy when performing for a crowd. "Standing on a stage in front of a crowd of eager fans gives you a huge rush that nothing else can come close to matching" Music is about connection. While there is still that mysterious link between an artist and fan via CD, there is nothing like the electricity of a live performance or the intimacy available to band and fan alike in that setting. This is where Wellsville comes alive and hits the top of their form. This is the true mark of talent.
Emotional Levels
Of course Wellsville wants to entertain its fans. What band doesn't? But the fact of the matter is that entertainment is but the first tier of music. Beyond that is the human effect, which is the level that Wellsville is striving to touch. And the band succeeds. "We want to create music that our fans can not only enjoy but also relate to on some kind of emotional level; " the kinds of songs that you would put on the soundtrack of your own life. " Wellsville wants to make the contact between artist and fan that brings energy and life to both parties. With the stellar music that this group writes, it's a goal well within sight.
Diversity
Wellsville enhances its richness by shooting for diversity. And it's an easy thing for these guys: "Since every member of the band has different musical tastes, our influences are pretty diverse." Eclecticism is an important part of greatness, as long as the artist knows how to fuse the disparate elements together into a whole. Wellsville is a master of this. It shines through on every track the band performs.
Accomplishments
November 2005 saw the band take first place out of 50 bands in a contest at the Knitting Factory in New York. Home Grown Radio interviewed Wellsville early this year, and so did the television news. The band ranked in another competition at the Knitting Factory in the middle of 2006, taking second place. The group stays active by booking and playing shows. They are setting their sights on the next Warped Tour or Creation Festival. New York and New Jersey will see a lot of the band and a summer tour is being eyed for 2007. Wellsville is currently working with A&R Select, the leading A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
