Wellyn have inhabited the fringes of Melbourne’s live scene off and on for the past six years, and have recently been described as sounding like The Polyphonic Spree developed a smack habit, stole all of Elbow's gear and pawned it off to Augie March in order to go on a massive bender with Jimmy Clinkerfield.
Many different musicians have passed through Wellyn's halls, & the debut album
features a gigantic array of guest vocals from the likes of Dan Kelly, Ollie Brown (Art of Fighting), Andrew Coates (Black Cab), Danny Griffith (SubAudible Hum), Ned Collette, and Chris Altmann (The Vandas).
Working with local engineer, Finn Keane (Wilco, Franz Ferdinand and Oasis), Wellyn's epic debut, ‘An Intimate Universe’ was launched to a near sold out Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on June 6th of 2008, and is now available Australia wide through Green Media / MGM.
