Applause est une formation pop-rock née en 2006 de la rencontre d'un chanteur français, Nicolas Ly, et de quatre musiciens belges, Manuel Roland, David Picard, Jérémie Mosseray et Manu Loriaux.
De la chorale d'une petite église d'un quartier bordelais au backing-vocals de plusieurs groupes parisiens en passant par des heures seul derrière un piano, Nicolas Ly développe discrètement sa passion pour la musique. Il préfère même l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, où il suit une formation complète sous le regard de Giuseppe Penone. Ce n'est qu'en 2006, suite à la rencontre à Paris de Manuel, David, Jérémie et Manu, qu'il décide de faire face à sa passion. Il compose, écrit les textes et est la voix d'Applause depuis lors.
Manuel Roland, David Picard, Jérémie Mosseray et Manu Loriaux commencent quant à eux leur aventure musicale commune 15 ans auparavant. Pour sortir de la morosité carolorégienne, ils forment un groupe : Orange Kazoo. Ils composent, sortent des disques, tournent et percent sur la scène nationale belge. L'aventure prend fin en 2004 et ils créent la Fanfare du Belgistan encore très active aujourd'hui et connue bien au-delà des frontières belges. Manuel Roland joue de la guitare et du saxophone, David Picard de la trompette et des claviers, Manu Loriaux de la basse, et Jérémie Mosseray est à la batterie et à la programmation.
Chacun participe également à d'autres projets musicaux. Manuel Roland joue dans Paris-Bruxelles. Jérémie Mosseray dans StairpleX. David Picard et Manuel Roland participent à l'album de Mathieu Boogaerts , « I love you » , en 2008.
Tous les membres de la Fanfare du Belgistan fondent avec Nery le projet Nery-Belgistan, album réalisé avec Matthieu Chédid. Et David Picard trouve encore le temps de faire de l’electro-rock à l'inspiration congolaise avec s.w.a.n..
Applause semble synthétiser toutes ces énergies bouillonnantes en un mélange pop, rock et electro très personnel, mais extrêmement communicatif. La chaleur de l'amitié, la rigeur de leur expériences musicales et la puissance de l'affirmation de leurs personnalité fait d'Applause un groupe à l'avenir prometteur.

Applause is a pop-rock band founded in 2006 when French singer, Nicolas Ly, met four Belgian musicians, Manuel Roland, David Picard, Jeremiah Mosseray and Manu Loriaux.
From the choir of a small church in Bordeaux, France, to the back-up vocals for several Parisian bands, through hours alone behind a piano, Nicolas Ly quietly developed his passion for music. Back then, he preferred his visual art studies with Giuseppe Penone at the Fine Arts School in Paris. It was not until 2006, after meeting Manuel, David, Jeremie and Manu in Paris, that he decided to face his passion. Since then, he has composed, written the texts, and been the voice of Applause.
Roland Manuel, David Picard, Jeremie Mosseray and Manu Loriaux had started their musical adventure 15 years before. To break the gloom of the impoverished Belgian city Charleroi where they grew up, they formed the band Orange Kazoo. They composed, published discs, went on tour and broke into the Belgian musical scene. The adventure ended in 2004, when they started a new project, la Fanfare du Belgistan, which is still very active today and known far beyond the borders of Belgium. Manuel Roland plays the guitar and the saxophone, David Picard the trumpet and keyboards, Manu Loriaux the bass, while Jeremie Mosseray is on drums and programming.
Everyone also participates in other musical projects. Manuel Roland plays in Paris – Bruxelles, Jeremiah Mosseray in StairpleX. David Picard and Manuel Roland have contributed to Mathieu Boogaerts' album I love you in 2008.
Along with another musician, Nery, all members of the Fanfare du Belgistan have founded the project Nery-Belgistan and published an album with Matthieu Chedid. Picard and David even still find the time to make the electro-rock of Congolese inspiration with the musician s.w.a.n.
Applause synthesizes all these energies into a bubbling and very personal mix of pop, rock and electronica, that is highly contagious. The warmth of friendship, the rigor of their musical experiences and the power of their personalities make Applause a group with a promising future.
