WELTRAUMSTAUNEN: Weltraumwelt
Weltraumwelt shows more krautrock hallmarks: heavy guitar/organ riffs, somewhat rough-edged, German-inflected vocals singing in English with underlying psychedelic freakiness and occasional weirdness. The CD features some pure ear-candy parts too like the excellent 60's acoustic folky "Wizard vs time", the moody "Doors" with its tasty guitar work, the up tempo spacey echoed "Hoffmanns Mahl" and the nerve tingling "Black dove" also has very entertaining parts. You'll hear traces of Pink Floyd, the trademark bass guitar of the Hawkwind style, and some West Coast flourishes. Synths and piano are used heavily on "Farfisadelic" in a very ambient, classical atmospheric way. All in all this is one excellent and expansive album that is best played late at night with mood set on drift. concreteweb (belgium)

Weltraumstaunen wurde im Februar 1998 von Andi Heinrich und Dave Schmidt gegründet. Oder auch nicht, denn bei einem "Studioprojekt" bedarf es eigentlich keiner datierten Gründung. Andi, Gitarrist und Sänger der Bayreuther Band GROWING SEEDS, und Dave (Sula Bassana), Bassist der Berliner Bands ZONE SIX und LIQUID VISIONS, hatten den Plan über die räumliche Distanz von 350 km "gemeinsam" zu musizieren, indem jeder seine Ideen auf 8-Spurbändern festhält und dem Anderen zuschickt, der sie vervollständigt. Gestartet wurde das Projekt mit einer gemeinsamen session (Astonished ... like the Universe) am Freitag, den 13. Februar 98 (Vollmond) im Growing Seeds Probenraum. Dave schleppte noch zwei Solo-Nummern an, die schon immer mal veröffentlicht werden sollten (Kraut und Pollenflug), und Andi spielte mit seiner EX-Frau Silk, Sängerin und Bassistin der GROWING SEEDS, zwei Titel ein (Clockline und Last Flight). Also noch kein allzu gemeinsames Werk, aber nach unserem Empfinden eine schöne Kollektion. Im Sommer `98 zog Dave nach Bayreuth um den Trommelhocker bei den Growing Seeds zu besetzen und der ganze Entfernungskram wurde soundso hinfällig.
"Uns bietet Weltraumstaunen die M..glichkeit unsere psychedelischen Phantasien auszuleben ohne auf andere Bandmitglieder Rücksicht nehmen zu müssen". Dadurch hat sich Weltraumstaunen unter Psychedelikern schon als Geheimtip `rumgesprochen. Die ersten Vorabtapes sind auf dem Burg Herzberg-Festival `98 weggegangen, auf dem Growing Seeds und Zone Six aufgetreten sind (Prog-Stage). Im Sommer `99 erschien die Weltraumstaunen-LP (Vinyl !) auf dem Label NASONI (limitiert auf 500 Stk., Klappcover). Im selben Jahr lösten sich die Growing Seeds auf und Dave ging wieder nach Berlin zurück.
Im Frühjahr 2002 nahmen Andi und Dave das zweite Weltraumstaunen Album "Weltraumwelt" auf, das auf Nasoni erschienen ist!
