I Weltschmerz sono un gruppo melodic metal con influenze sinfoniche, progressive ed heavy, nato nel Febbraio 2008 dal desiderio di Nadia Orlando di formare il gruppo con cui poter cantare finalmente il genere che soddisfa il suo gusto musicale e la sua predisposizione vocale.
Re-incontrato Davide Di Mauro, chitarrista dalle influenze progressive ma non solo, parte la ricerca degli altri componenti e la scelta ricade su Nicholas Carpinato, che si rivela adattissimo al genere del gruppo. Insieme a lui, Emanuele Battiato ed Enrico Puglisi, rispettivamente al basso e alla tastiera, concludono perfettamente la formazione, ed il 23 Febbraio 2008 è la data ufficiale della nascita del gruppo con la prima prova in sala.
Nel giro di qualche mese il gruppo comincia a metter sù un discreto repertorio di cover e arrivano le prime serate, le rassegne musicali in giro per i locali, ed i primi concorsi. Ad un anno dalla nascita i Weltschmerz vincono il primo premio del contest "Rumori Barocchi".
Il gruppo sperimenta oltre che cover, brani inediti ed è possibile ascoltare il primo, dal titolo "The Pain", qui su MySpace. _____________________________________________________________
"Weltschmerz" letteralmente traducibile dal tedesco "male del mondo" "dolore universale", è un concetto formulatosi nell'ambiente del Romanticismo tedesco, un concetto che racchiude il significato dell'inevitabile condizione umana, ma anche della realtà tutta, di DOLORE.
"Il dolore non riguarda solo l’uomo ma investe ogni creatura. Tutto soffre: dal fiore che appassisce all’animale ferito, dal bimbo che nasce al vecchio che muore. L’uomo, tuttavia, soffre più d’ogni altra creatura perché è dotato di maggiore consapevolezza ed è destinato a sentire in maniera più vivace e distinta il pungolo della Volontà. Fra tutti gli uomini, poi, il genio sperimenta la più acuta sofferenza: “chi aumenta il sapere moltiplica la sofferenza"" (cit. A. Schopenhauer).
Il termine fu ufficialmente coniato dall'autore tedesco Jean Paul, ma era anche diffuso tra i più importanti autori e pensatori romantici quali Lord Byron, Giacomo Leopardi, Alfred De Musset, Nikolaus Lenau, Arthur Schopenhauer.
Oggi il moderno significato del termine Weltschmerz nella lingua tedesca indica il dolore psicologico causato dalla malinconia, che può diventare depressione in senso patologico.
Ma da sempre una delle risposte dell'uomo al Dolore, è L'Arte. E L'Arte sopra tutte è da sempre ritenuta la Musica (vedi Schopenhauer).
Il lato oscuro della musica dei Weltschmerz può essere interpretato quindi come una realistica presa di coscienza della condizione universale, ma anche come una risposta esorcizzante a questa attraverso la Musica, capace di svincolare dalla realtà di Dolore nell'istante in cui essa si realizza. Anche se per un fugace istante.

BIOGRAPHY
Weltschmerz is a melodic metal cover band with symphonic, progressive and heavy influences, born in February 2008 from the Nadia’s wish to form the band where she can sing finally the genre that satisfies her musical taste and her voice predisposition.
Re-met Davide, guitarist with progressive influences but not only, begins the search of the other members, and the choice falls on Nicholas, suitable to the genre of the band.
Emanuele and Enrico, respectively on bass guitar and keyboards, with Nicholas complete the line-up, and the Febraury 23rd 2008 is the official date of birth, in consequence of the first rehearsal.
After a few months the band begins to form a discrete repertory of cover and begin to perform live in festivals and pubs. After a year of birth, Weltschmerz win the contest's first prize "Rumori Barocchi".

"Weltschmerz", from the German, literally means "world-pain", but is more than a term. Rather it is a concept, that was formed in the German Romanticism. This concept encompasses the meaning of the unavoidable condition of Pain, of every creature and thing in the world.
"All suffer: from the flower that wilt to the animal wounded, from the baby born to the old dying. The man, however, suffers more than any other creature 'cause he has more awareness and he is designed to feel a more lively and distinct stimulant of the Will. Among all men, then the genius experiences the most acute suffering: "Who increases knowledge increases the suffering"" (A.Schopenhauer).
The term was officially coined by the German author Jean Paul, but it was also widespread among several romantic authors such as Lord Byron, Giacomo Leopardi, Alfred De Musset, Nikolaus Lenau, Arthur Schopenhauer.
Today the modern meaning of Weltschmerz in the German language is the psychological pain caused by sadness that can occur when realizing that someone's own weaknesses are caused by the inappropriateness and cruelty of the world. The modern meaning should also be compared with the concept of depression.
But always one of the reactions in response to Pain , is Art. Music was deemed the most important art (see Schopenhauer).
The dark side of the music of Weltschmerz can then be interpreted as a realistic awareness of the universal condition, but also as a reaction to this Reality, with music. Pleased to present the first music video for one of the songs, that being for the song "Eel Marsh House", which is based on the movie "The Woman In Black". Wasn't sure to name it that instead of 'Eel Marsh..." ...Eel Marsh House being where the woman in black 'lived', and now haunts it. Though, she seems to haunt the general area of the village as well as the House. If anyone catches her gaze, looks into her eyes....a child will die, usually from the family of the person unfortunate to look at her. As you see what happens to the story's main character at the end.
