It is only 7 more days to the 2009 International Day of Peace on September 21. Let your voices be heard by sending us more reasons why we must disarm at www.un.org/en/events/peaceday . From 23-25 September, we will share your thoughts with world leaders when they meet for the opening of the General Assembly at the UN in New York.
Thanks for your submissions to the video competition. Great work! We will announce the winners soon.
Watch a live webcast of our student conference on the International Day of Peace from 10 am - 1 pm EDT (local time in NY) whose theme this year is "Disarm Now for a Better World" ( http://un.org/webcast) . Hundreds of students will be gathering at UN Headquarters along with the new President of the General Assembly and Messengers of Peace (Jane Goodall and HRH Princess Haya of Jordan) for this event. Youth from Peacekeeping Missions in Liberia, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo will participate via video conference.
Thanks for all your support!

We are now half way through Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s WMD-We Must Disarm 100-day countdown campaign to the International Day of Peace on 21 September.
To mark the start of the second half of the campaign, today we are launching a competition to find the best short film on the issue of nuclear disarmament and/or non-proliferation. The winner’s film will be shown at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and posted on the online platforms supporting the Secretary-General’s WMD-We Must Disarm campaign.
Submissions containing obscene or offensive language or imagery will not be considered for the competition, nor will overtly political references to any particular country. A panel of UN staff and partner organizations involved with nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation will be the judges.
You can access the Secretary-General’s WMD-We Must Disarm campaign website at: www.un.org/en/events/peaceday
