********“Wendy… had us all mesmerised by her performance… an easy relaxed style with a beautifully sweet yet powerful voice.” Foggy Furze Folk Club review *************
“a fine singer of traditional songs” Ken Miller, www.myspace.com************
“This lady can certainly write a narrative folk song!” Tim Carroll, Folkwords, www.folkwords.com***********
Born and raised in Glasgow, I always loved singing and didn’t need much encouragement to get up and perform even as a young child. I first remember singing at the age of 3 at a Christmas Party.
The guitar entered my life when I was about 12 – a toss up between school hockey or guitar lessons…there was no contest! Basics learnt, the guitar was picked up on and off over the years as I grew up.
Folk music interests developed when I met my husband, Paul, (son of an accordion-playing folkie!) and performance at a low key, singaround level started in 2005. I heard other people’s songs and thought, “I could do that!” so I wrote some. People said, “Have you got a CD?”, so I recorded one.. Folks said, “Would you like to perform at our club?”, so I began to get gigs. And some festivals, and then…well who knows where life leads, but I’m having fun sharing my music and songs I love with lots of wonderful people.
2009 will be busy with CD 2 released and gigs from Fife down to Kent with many places in between.
• CD “Now Then?” – released September 2007
• Winner of Saltburn 2007 Songwriting Competition – “The Visitor”
• Winner of Scarborough Seafest 2008 Song for the Sea Contest – “Sleep Well ‘till Morning”
*************************************************************** Review of Saltburn Folk Festival by Pete Betts (Main stage M.C.) on MudCat Cafe: "Songwriter competition won by a young lady - Wendy Arrowsmith - tremendous song and what a voice and performance .I think we're destined to hear more of her voice and guitar - brilliant singer - a gem." *****************************************************************

My latest venture is a duo named "ONE STONE" with the multi talented Rebekah Findlay..... I have uploaded some of the tracks that we have recorded for our demo CD. " Luskentyre" is written and sung (and guitar) by Becks with me supplying harmonies and Accordian. Blackbirds is written and sung (and guitar) by Me with Becks on Fiddle. The Recruited Collier is a traditional song with Becks on fiddle and me on vocals and guitar...... You can hear more more "ONE STONE" songs on the (currently under development) "ONE STONE" MySpace .......see my top frinds
Thank you for the add, Wendy. Beautiful music. I particularly like 'The Blacksmith'. I know it's an oft-covered song but I thought you really put some despair and betrayal back into it, which is often missing.
blimey wendy, look at your schedule of gigs...will do my best to catch up with you in 2010 now that i have weekends and evenings free :) all the best to paul, peter and kirsty xxx

What Question can I ask to empower myself and others? What new thought can I notice now to add to my creativity? How can I improve the experience of those I encounter today? What can I do to facilitate your Gift?
