Interests

  • General

I am author of 'Curse of the Tahiéra, a spiritual adventure'.

My sources of inspiration: earth, rocks, trees, castle ruins, dreams, the Other World, Kefalonia, and music...lots of music...

  • Music

I love Celtic music: Altan, Capercaillie, Cecile Corbel, Catriona McKay, Loreena McKennitt, etc. etc.

I'm also becoming a big fan of Greek singer Pantelis Thalassinos. The voice of a Greek angel! And last though certainly not least I love Omnia, the best Dutch pagan band ever:-D

  • Movies

    The movie in my head:)
  • Television

Since 'Buffy' ended, I have to contend with 'Medium'...that's it, really...oh, and reruns of 'Blackadder', of course.
  • Books

Find more on my first novel, 'Curse of the Tahiéra' on my author website

    Or buy it on Amazon
The English edition of Wendys first novel
Since I began writing, I've read very few other books.
The last book I bought but still have to read is 'The Apple and the Thorn' by Emma Restall-Orr

Among my favorites are Tolkien, the early Tanith Lee, a gem called 'The Hounds of the Morrigan' by Pat O'Shea, Robin Hobb's Farseer series, the early Patricia McKillip, and the classic 'Once and Future King'. Oh, and I'm a firm admirer of Pamela Kribbe's Jeshua Channelings.

At the moment I'm enjoying 'Tales of the Celtic Bards' by Claire Hamilton.

Yldich, my enigmatic shaman - whoever he may be...he still hasn't revealed it to me, and I'm writing him!

Hi, I'm Wendy Gillissen, author of 'Curse of the Tahiéra, a spiritual adventure'

Visit my author website for more on me and my books!

My greatest passion is writing. Though I knew I wanted to be a writer from the age of five or six, I only began my first novel in late 2005.
It's never too late to fulfill your dreams!
In December 2008, the Dutch edition of Curse of the Tahiéra (De Vloek van de Tahiéra) was published in the Netherlands.
In May 2009 the English edition was published by Booklocker in the U.S.

..

I am a deeply spiritual person, though not affiliated to any religion. I am however a member of OBOD, the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. Currently I'm in the Bardic grade and boy, am I into a lot of bardic activities! Writing, learning the Celtic harp, making jewellery...

After graduating in Clinical Psychology I specialized in dreamwork and past life therapy, which is what I do in my therapy practice in the Netherlands. I also teach dreamwork.

Exploring past lives is a great source of inspiration to me, along with nature, history and the unbridled imagination of my overactive mind...;-)

A powerful all-engrossing epic

Wendy Gillissen’s wonderful début novel is a powerful all-engrossing epic, in which love and forgiveness are essential lessons to be learned. Dreams and past lives are central to the story, and I was not surprised then to learn Wendy is a past life therapist who specialises in dreamwork. This understanding of her subject matter results in a sensitively crafted and profound spiritual adventure for both the main protagonists and the reader. The rich history and cultures of the land in which the tale unfolds is entirely convincing, as are the story’s well rounded and sympathetic characters. I found the Curse of the Tahiéra very evocative of the myths and legends of the British Isles, particularly the Tuatha Dé Danann of Celtic legend. For all it’s depth, Wendy has succeeded in writing a thoroughly enjoyable tale which never once becomes heavy going or dull (the curse of many fantasy epics I have endured over the years!).

2º CANUN SEMINAR WITH MANOLIS KARPATHIOS

    23-30 AUGUST 2009, KALYMNOS

Following from the great success of the canun seminar in the island of
Simi and the acceptance of an invitation from the Mayor of Kalymnos,
the 2º canun seminar is now due in a few days.

    Between August
23-30 in the beautiful island of Kalymnos, Manolis Karpathios will be
teaching the modern techniques of the canun to musicians who have
gathered together for the event from all parts of Greece. Co-organiser
of this seminar is Giannis Megaloudis’s Simi Cultural Institute,
providing the invaluable technical knowledge and experience of the
    first seminar.

The increasing demand for participation in
such events illustrates the ascendant course of the canun as a musical
instrument that shows people’s thirst for original musical expressions
which are relevant to the ancient greek and Byzantine music.

Price: 140€, including teaching and accommodation.
