I have had the group "Wendy & the Soulshakers" since 1990. Actually, my guitarist and good friend Steve "RED" Lasner started the group, I had just moved to the Tampa Bay area from Texas when i met him.
On bass we Had Stevie "BACKBONE" Way from 1990-2005 (15 years!!)....BUT he had to retire due to health problems. He recently passed away and we miss him dearly.
On drums is Duane Plikunas.

Lets start with Jim Morrison,Jimi Hendrix,Robert Plant....stevie wonder,aretha franklin,etta james,patti labelle,RAY CHARLES.....lucinda williams,norah jones,delbert mcclinton.......billie holiday,ella fitzgerald,dinah washington,dianna krall......the grateful dead.........BOB MARLEY....... AND there are alot of people i just like to listen to!

Originally from Houston, Texas, Wendy started off doing the rock/ heavy metal thing. Her first band was called EQUANOX,which she joined while in high school. The bands founding members were Leif & Tex Coburn (drums & bass) and Jeff Seal (guitar).Influenced first by Led Zeppelin,Hendrix & the Doors early on(which her brother-in-law Jeff Knouse turned her on to), then into Iron Maiden,Priest,Slayer,Metallica,Helstar, etc for awhile, and of course other great 80s bands like Boston & Journey.....
she switched to Blues after moving to Florida and playing the club circuit there."I always loved soul music too!!" she quips, stating other artists such as Etta James,Stevie Wonder,Billy Preston,Aretha also played a big part in her style. She also realized this music was more suited to her voice :)
"Theres so much great music out there, it's hard to pick just one style!!"
Wendy has performed worldwide with her group Wendy & the Soulshakers, as well as singing lead for Janis's original band BIG BROTHER & the HOLDING COMPANY from 2000-2004.
She has opened for/or performed with such greats as Jefferson Starship,Iron Butterfly,Edgar Winter,Molly Hatchett,Clarence GATEMOUTH Brown,James Cotton,Delbert McClinton,Vanilla Fudge to name a few.
A singer/songwriter....Wendy has self produced 4 CDs in Florida....featuring alot of her own material....
and is currently working on a new record in Nashville, TN at the Rock House.
