About me:
My first introduction to Spirit FM 91.1 was to present a show on air!! We were then Spirit FM 92.3 Talk about being thrown in the deep end. I had to have everything written down, including my name, as I was so terrified that I couldn’t remember a thing. It’s amazing what terror that microphone can put you through.
Since those early days, I’ve developed a lot more confidence & have learnt things that I thought would be impossible. I’ve certainly made some serious inroads in my new venture, but I’m the first to admit there’s always something new to learn.
With my Blues show, I do all of my own programming, use the mixer & present my programme. Spirit of the Blues is my “baby” as we didn’t have any Aussie Blues when I started. I’m eternally grateful to all the wonderful people who have sent me cds & showed their faith in both myself & my show. Thank you so much. It’s also been fantastic having people call in to the Radio Station for a chat or a live to air interview.
As well as my Blues show, I do 5 other shows during the week & have lots of fun with every show.
I’d like to say a big thank you to our Station Manager Pepi Meza, for his patience, great training techniques & for giving me the opportunity to experience Community Radio.
ABOUT SPIRIT FM 91.1 NARRANDERA COMMUNITY RADIO FROM OUR CHAIRMAN.
Spirit FM 91.1 commenced broadcasting from Narrandera’s disused Railway Station in January, 2005. Narrandera is situated on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River & is at the cross roads of the Newell & Sturt Highways.
The station is totally manned by volunteers from the Station Manager, Pepi Meza right down to our very dedicated cleaner Jennifer. Volunteers maintain our music library, undertake all the administrative tasks, produce sponsor messages, station tags & other voice overs.
Most of the programs broadcast during the day involve presenters. Automated programming is reserved for very late at night, with the breakfast show presenters taking over at 7 a.m.
Wendy joined our fledgling radio station
"Spirit FM 91.1" in August 2005 & immediately became involved in the "nuts & bolts" running of the station & became the expert in "Blues" which has been of great benefit to us.
