Wendy's Interests
|
| General | Allspice, Blue, Cookies, Dulcimer, Egg Salad, Flames, Gossip Girl, Howlies, Igloos, Jokes, Krispy Kreme, Lavender, Murphy, Niels Bohr, Occitane shea butter hand cream, Priscilla, Quick Oats, Riddles, Supro, Travel, Universities, Verdi, Xylophones, Yahoo!, Zoo Animals
| | Music | Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Brenda Lee (since we're related and all, and she's got the best rock and roll voice ever-according to John Lennon, not me)
Derek and the Dominos, Bob Dylan, Howlin' Wolf, Leadbelly
The Temptations, The Coasters, Beethoven's Symphony No. 7
The View (and no, I'm not going to apologize for that!), Howlies
The Black Lips, The Woggles, The Waxwings, Brendan Benson
The Greenhornes, Chuck Berry, The Pixies Three, Junior Walker and the All Stars, Nick Cave (all incarnations thereof), Dion and the Belmonts, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Dirtbombs, King Khan and the Shrines, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Otis Redding (he's from Macon), Little Richard (also from Macon) - I guess the response to this should have been "yes".
| | Movies | Are too expensive, and I'm on a budget, so I'll take a pub and a show over them anytime. I do watch the period pieces on the BBC, so that's pretty much it. | | Television | You have to have a licence to have a tv in the UK, so I do not have one. I watch the iplayer on BBC, and Never Mind the Buzzcocks makes me laugh hysterically. It's not really got a point, but it's funny. I buy Gossip Girl on iTunes because I am obsessed, and it's the glue holding me and my bff together. :) | | Books | Read Gone With the Wind. I think it explains a lot. My favorite book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I really liked The Story of Britain since I don't know much about British history and I'm moving there. Alcools by Guillaume Apollinaire is great. I like to read French surrealist poetry, but really only because I like to say that I do. | | Heroes | I know it's cliche, but my mom's my hero. She can bake a cake and read French and she taught classrooms full of high school students who don't really care about anything, much less history. Norman Cantor, the writer, is pretty amazing. He's written about everything. I wish I could be that smart and make people want to learn about history. I also admire the following people: the baby Jesus o'course, my best friend Brooke, secretaries, the people who work in the bakery at Whole Foods (they are so nice!), anyone who waits tables or tends bar for a living or works in retail, Ronald Ragin (and I didn't misspell that), anyone who has served in the military, my Granny and PaPa, Detroit garage rockers, ballerinas, opera singers, nannies, stay-at-home moms, working moms, my former professors, and my aunt Belinda (since my mom calls me Belinda all the time). |

About me:
I'm in grad school at the University of Manchester getting a master's in Early Modern History, and I plan to come back with a ridiculously fake British accent a la Madonna. I used to be in a band with a drummer who claims that one day he will be the Pete Best in my Beatles-esque Behind the Music (which VH1 no longer does). It's probably the other way around.

Who I'd like to meet:
Neat people who are clean but not OCD, fun but not into too many controlled substances, and educated but not arrogant. Okay, maybe some sort of arrogance is warranted if you can beat me at Trivial Pursuit or in a spelling bee, but you see, you can't. Vinyl junkies, people who like to dress up (costume or every day), anyone who appreciates the brilliance of Lieber and Stoller, podiatrists (my feet are killing me here).
