About me:
My debut novel, Midori By Moonlight, will come out on Sept 18! Exploring the theme of why some people feel the need to trade in their native culture for a new one, it's a comic novel of East meets West fusion that introduces readers to fresh-from-Japan Midori Saito, a kind of Japanese Bridget Jones who longs to be a pastry chef, and finds herself lost in translation in San Francisco as she searches for her American Dream and the perfect dessert. I am also a singer (bossa nova, jazz, retro pop, Japanese music, etc.) and have a duo with my husband, Osaka-born Manabu "Stokemaster" Tokunaga called Star Jazzmin. I have been to Japan many times and enjoy visiting Harajuku, Shibuya, Daikanyama, Shimokitazawa, Jiyugaoka, and hot spots in Osaka. I speak okay Japanese, but it gets rusty because I don't get to use it too much! My husband and I speak mostly in English, but with a good Japanese phrase or word thrown in for that extra-something you just can't express in English!
Who I'd like to meet:
Writers, readers, and those interested in Japan, studying the Japanese language, and Japanese pop culture.

Wendy-can relate to the line your profile about speaking mostly English with your husband with an extra something thrown in. My husband and I both share Bosnian as a second language and use it mostly as a code. Good luck with your book. Sounds intriguing.

Hi Wendy,

Thanks for the add. Your book sounds very interesting. My daughter has recently moved to Sasebo for three years with her hubby. Of course, now I am even more interested in all things Japanese. I will look for your book. It sounds like a good read for my winter break.

Have a great weekend!
