Sounds Like
someone once described their sound as this.....The Replacements & Drive-By Truckers getting drunk together & jamming Lemonheads, Fugazi, & Skynard covers at a house party. That pretty much sums it up...
CURRENT: We've been bouncing back & forth between Nashville & Atlanta recording tracks for an upcoming e.p. It will be our first official release. We're still in the process of getting the final track listing & final mix. Keep checking back for updates.
BRIEF ORAL HISTORY: Wes Ables & Andrew Teems grew up near each other in the Stone Mountain area of Atlanta, GA. They began writing music together after running into each other for the first time since they were kids, in college in Athens, GA in 1997. They formed the band Creekwater Sound in 1997 & soon after enlisted John Wetherald on Bass guitar. For the next 3 years CWS played numerous shows in Athens & became known for the crazy, party type atmosphere of their live shows. The music was young, raw, & gritty. 5 guys bangin' away on their instruments trying to find thier voice. Somewhere along the way they began to grow up a little & they soon found out there was other things that needed to be done. CWS officially disbanded in early 2000. They recorded & released 1 record, "18 Rays of Sun" in 1999. There have been talks of releasing a live show from the Georgia Theatre in '98. We will keep you posted on the developments here.
Since then, Ables traveled the country making stops in Florida, Arizona, & Michigan before moving back to the South in 2006. He and Teems continued writing over the years & finally decided to start a new band. The Helldorados pick up where CWS left off & are writing the best music of their lives right now. Over the last year they have kept a low profile, playing a few shows in Atlanta & made a triumphant return to Athens during AthFest '07 at the Nowhere Bar. A lot of folks have given praise & heads are starting to turn. Take a listen & hopefully you will like what you hear. This is raw. This is Dirty. This is Rock-N-Roll, Southern Style....dig it.
