Before Roxie had been at New Leash for a week, she was the staff's new favorite dog! This short and spunky girl is the very definition of a kissbull - she is overwhelmingly affectionate and loves to cover her friends in kisses!
Roxie is the perfect dog for someone who likes to go hiking or jogging. She loves exercise and spending time with people, so in her mind there is nothing better! She would be best in a adult-only home with no other dogs. Don't let these advisements fool you, however, because this dog is a treasure! Roxie walks nicely on leash and is already housebroken. This lovable girl just needs someone to give her a loving forever-home.

This boy has really been through the ringer! This poor fellow was found by his previous owners after being flung from a car- imagine that? He was only a few months old and found bouncing down the road, homeless, and frightened.
Luckily he was found by his most recent owners and brought home. At that time, although well intentioned, his owners didn’t spend the correct amount of time necessary to raise a puppy correctly, leaving poor Ferris in the yard, howling for love and affection most of the time. After 2 years of this, the owners decided to give up on this sweet guy and luckily got the attention of NLOL. When NLOL first got Ferris he was very unsocialized and very confused how to behave in a home like a good dog should. After months of training and behavioral work, we are happy to announce that Ferris has made a great recovery!
Ferris loves to chew on his toys, and hang out in the kitchen while you cook a meal. His foster mom and dad call him their golden boy because his spirit shines through those gorgeous eyes of his!
Ferris is still uncomfortable with strangers, but is getting better each and every day. He is completely obedience trained and housetrained, and listens to direction very well now.

Alright already! Enough is enough! My name is Chip and I want to go home! I need someone who can keep up with me and take me on multiple adventures. There's a big world out there and I want to sniff every part!
I've been misunderstood in the past, I am very busy you know, I've got things to pee on and lizards to chase. No time to waste. But day after day, I keep waking up in the same kennel and though I get regular walks, I need big spaces to run and play. Mind you, the big spaces will have to be really secure because you human people don't understand the urgency I have to explore this big, wide world.
The good news is, I do love to cuddle and I love to do tricks, as long as there are treats involved of course. Hey, I don't work for free! Please somebody come and get me! I want to go home!
Television
Basil is a sweet, gentle dog that just needs careful introductions with anyone he meets as he is very protective of his guardians. He loves splashing in pool whenever the weather gets too warm, and ESPECIALLY loves riding on the golf cart. As you may have noticed from watching his video, he is happy just going around and around in circles! Of course, his favorite thing to do is snuggle with the people that he has come to trust.
This is a dog who suffers from fear aggression, but if you take the time to build a relationship with him, he will be your best friend forever. He needs someone who is willing to come to New Leash and visit him and get to know him and earn his trust.
Basil has been obedience trained and knows basic commands such as "sit," "stay" and "down" and when he really loves you, he's not shy about giving you lots of kisses. He will be a loyal and loving companion to a dog-savvy home.
Books
Although "Oso" means "bear" in Spanish, don't be afraid - this sweet boy is the friendliest dog that you could hope to meet! Even if he's never met you before, Oso is sure to treat you like a long-lost friend. He was listed by the shelter as 7 years old, but he's got beautiful white teeth, a gorgeous coat and loves to exercise, so he's either younger or someone took good care of this boy. He knows a few tricks, like "sit" and "down", and will happily perform them in exchange for a treat or a bellyrub.
Oso is a big and "oh-so" handsome boy who needs lots of exercise, so he is perfect for the family that loves to go on walks or hikes. We think that Oso would be best in a home without other dogs, as he greatly prefers human company to canine! If you are looking for a loyal companion who is a walking, talking, snuggly teddy bear, Oso is waiting to meet you!
Heroes
Indy is longing for an adventure. He was left in the backyard with no interaction with his people and now longs to be cuddled and hugged. Indy wants nothing more than to play ball and run around in the grass... except maybe snuggling up next to his favorite human friends for some affection, of course! Indy has a very loving personality and enjoys spending time with people. He is desperate for attention and is very cuddly.
Unfortunately, something in Indy's past has triggered him to be fearful of children, possibly from some sort of abuse. But that doesn't mean he isn't a great, loyal dog. He's very smart as he knows many obedience commands and walks very nicely on a leash. He might get along with dogs who are more submissive and laid back.
We Save Animals, (WSA) is a Non-Profit Organization that was inspired by seeing first hand the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, which left many animals sick,homeless and deceased. Seeing the word "dead cat" or "dead dog" on the empty, partially standing homes was heart breaking and we knew we needed to do something to help. This past year California, among other states, has been faced with the growing foreclosure crisis. Homeowners are walking away from their homes leaving their poor pets behind with nothing but a bowl of food forcing them to fend for themselves.
WSA was created to help those innocent animals find stable homes from an owner that will love them through thick and thin. WSA was created on the basis of simply "Being a Hero". We'll provide you with monthly updates on our most current rescues and the difference that you are making through your generous contributions. WE can't do this alone....because everyone needs a hero!
