Wes's songs range from lush, finger picked pseudo-folk to edgy dark pop. In addition to being generally catchy, the songs reveal "…a deep harmonic concept and an emotional vulnerability rarely seen in todays' commerce-driven music machine" -Kyle Green of The Chronoton. A professional musician in Chicago for 15 years, Wes has been in numerous and varied musical situations including playing in the lost Duke Ellington Musical, Jump for Joy to jamming out with progressive favorites Umphree's McGee. I've been playing guitar and sax since I was a wee lad. I pretty much always have music running through my head unless distracted by food or cleavage. Into documentaries, most Jimi Hendrix, George Carlin, Oscar Peterson, 70's Playboy's (for the articles...seriously) and evolution; biologically, cosmologically, and personally. No crystals please. I've fully accepted the cessation of oceanic convection and the ensuing ice age. I'm looking to make records right up until the rapture. I started my career as a tenor sax player and over the years kind of morphed into a singer/songwriter with a smidge of guitar/sax hero. I work as a freelance musician here in Chicago and am extremely thankful to get to do what I love for a living. In a given week I could end up doing anything from a solo acoustic set at The House of Blues to playing in a 17-piece "orchestra" at some swank corporate event. Though I spend alot of time playing other peoples music I never stopped writing, recording and performing my own; first with my band, The E-mics, and now with the Wes John Trio. As of late Ive been getting into the acoustic side of things and have many a show coming up this fine summer of 09'. Also...Every Wednesday at The Pioneer Tap Open Mic at which I back up various artists on Guit/Bass/Sax/Vox as well as play some of my originals and unique covers. We are seeking both male and female artists with strong and unique vocal ability, talent, and style. An artist must stand out above the crowd, have a great voice, and be available to record and tour full time.
Any artist selected will be contracted for a 52 weeks period prior to the commencement of the tour at a rate of between $650.00 and $1,200.00 per week that shall be based on their talent and potential. All travel expenses shall be provided for in addition to the weekly salary if an artist is selected.
Artist must be available to travel and perform a maximum of 7 shows per week that will consist of sets between 45 and 90 minutes in length. In some instances there will be two shows scheduled on the same day. Artist must also make themselves available for any and all rehearsals, studio recordings, promotional appearances, and photo or video shoots as part of this agreement.
We are seeking a Pop/Rock Commercial band with female lead vocals. Band should consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums.
*** Average age of the band should not exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract, of any type, that is related to the music industry.
