Kerby Jackson is an author of short western fiction, western novels and historical non-fiction. He is a native of Oregon, which he regards as "The Real Old West" due not only to the area's location on the far Western edge of the North American continent, but also its turbulent frontier history.
Though Jackson has lived elsewhere, including Idaho, Washington and also Scotland, it is in his native Oregon where he sets the majority of his fiction.
He is a compulsive student of the history of the Pacific Northwest, particularly that of the Oregon, which typically shows in his written work. In addition to reading voraciously, he has tromped through ghost towns throughout the Pacific Northwest and mined for gold along some of the same creeks where the old timers walked back in the day.
Kerby Jackson is the author of "The Troubled Land" which is a traditional western set in Eastern Oregon's Owyhee Country. "The Troubled Land" follows the story of Ken Payne, who is a retired and very troubled gunman who is thrust headlong into a conflict between a group of hard working settlers and a greedy businessman who will stop at nothing to grab up their land.
"The Troubled Land" is coming soon to Amazon.com and a bookstore near you.
He is currently at work on two more novels:
"The Sweet Revenge of Chance Love" which has a vengeance theme and is set in Jackson's native Rogue Country in South West Oregon. "The Sweet Revenge ..." follows the story of a young man who is out to avenge the death of his family at the hand of a group of now aging outlaws.
"The Tarnished Star", which is also set in the Rogue Country during the 1890's. It follows the story of Jim Nelson, who returns to the town of French Gulch in search of his estranged brother, only to find that the townsite is abandoned and that his brother has murdered at the hands of a corrupt lawman.
