From a young age, most people are programmed to be afraid of what can't be seen. Alot of tv shows and movies today, portray that same feeling in people. We have always been open to our kids about the paranormal and try not to steer them in that direction. Our daughter, who is almost 16 is very interested in investigating with us and enjoys doing some of the research. We try to involve her as much as possible to help her keep an open mind. I think she's hooked!
There are three types of hauntings:
The first type is "residual". This type of haunting is like watching a scene from a movie over and over again. The entity doesn't know that they're gone and continues on as if they were still alive. This haunting poses No threat to anyone.
The second is "intelligent". This type of haunting is interactive. You might see a full or partial bodied apparition. More often than that, you might pick up voices or evp's. You might smell odors, have lights turning on or off or even feel like you're being touched. They may be just playing a prank or they may want you to leave. This type of haunting may be scary, but they are relatively harmless.
The third type of haunting is "demonic". These types of haunts are what you might encounter through a Ouija Board, etc... They are non human spirits and often disguise themselves as friendly. This type of haunt is dangerous and will cause harm, but this is very rare.
