West Fest 2010 will invade West Valley College on Saturday, May 8th 2010!
West Fest is a free music and art festival started by West Valley College's student senate back in 2007. What started as a 5 band bill, one small stage, and a few hours of live music, has now evolved in just 3 years into what is becoming the next bay area community college phenomenon, known today as the annual West Fest. With Pitch Black Records lending a hand since the second West Fest in 2008, and this year's addition of Barb Rocks, and Swisher Wheez Entertainment to the team, West Fest 2009 brought you a surreal environment filled with the best of the bay's home talent at it's finest. All of this, keeping one tradition in mind, Free Admission! The artists, and staff of West Fest do it for the love of what they do. West Fest is, and always will be: for the music lover, by the music lover.
West Fest 2009 invaded the West Valley College Campus Center building on Saturday, May 9th, and featured 3 stages of energy, delivering you a powerful mix of more than 20+ acts of live music, ranging from pop-rock to metal and punk, along with a mix also ranging from rap and hip-hop to reggae music. Two main stages opposed each other inside the main hall, and the out-door stage made a return, this year featuring live art provided by artists from Pacific Art Collective, (AKA PAC Sessions) which offered a community mural painting, open to anyone wanting to be involved.
This year's edition of West Fest also introduced for the first time, an open mic session, located near the fireside lounge, provided an awesome opportunity for local artists to play acoustic, and for poets to express their spoken word or poetry in front of a new audience.

2009 West Fest was AWESOME!!! Great job to everyone that was involved in organizing the event, to all the bands that kicked ass, and to PAC Session and Audio-Dru for a great time outside! Here's to 2010 being even bigger and better! xoxo
