At 2648 West Grand Boulevard in the heart of Detroit, there stands a house. Stretching across the front of this house are large blue letters that proudly procl.. Hitsville U.S.A., a title that could not be more fitting.
In the 1950s, in the small snake pit studio in the basement of this house, producer Berry Gordy hired studio musicians The Funk Brothers to give life to his vision of the Motown sound. At Hitsville, the Funk Brothers proudly laid down the tracks on more number one hit songs than The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley combined.
It is the magic of 2648 West Grand Boulevard, and the genius of Berry Gordy and The Funk Brothers that was the inspiration for a group of young East San Francisco Bay Area musicians to form the R&B/Soul/Motown band so fittingly named, West Grand Blvd.
West Grand Blvd. was formed in early 2003, and has performed weddings, festivals, private parties/events, and clubs. With a repertoire of nearly one hundred songs, West Grand Blvd. can easily provide a morning, afternoon, or evening of fun and dancing for a crowd of any age or size.
