In May 1993 three 8 year old children, Christopher Byers, Stevie Branch, and Michael Moore were found murdered in a creek in a wooded area known as Robin Hood Hills in West Memphis Arkansas. Within a month the West Memphis police department announced that it had caught the killers, 17 year old Jessie Misskelley, 16 year old Jason Baldwin, and 18 year old Damien Echols. According to the police the 3 children were murdered in a satanic ritual. Their evidence was an error filled confession by Misskelley, who is mentally handicapped with an IQ of 72. Misskelley was subjected to 12 hours of interrogation without parental consent or legal counsel, and only 46 minutes of those 12 hours were audio taped. Misskelley recanted his story that night but it was too late. Even though there was no physical evidence at all, no murder weapon, no motive and no connection between the victims and the accused, the three teenagers were convicted in 1994 for the murders. The prosecutions evidence was black hair, black t-shirts, Metallica cds and Stephen King novels. Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin were sentenced to life without parole while Damien Echols was sentenced to death by lethal injection. They have been in prison for over 11 years for a crime they did not commit. Time is running out for Damien Echols, but there is still hope. To find out how you can help please visit www.wm3.org . Granted there are millions of other cases that are probably worthy of our attention, but you can't go after all of them. To me, the planet itself is going to be fine. Pollution is the solution to the problem that is man. But maybe we can at least get these kids out of jail. -----

Thanx for thr add...im currently a law student and its sad we use your case study for examples of how poor our system really is..if students can see that there is no real evidence pointing to u, ud think trained officials would.....i hope one day the right person hears your case and you all will be let free...keep up the hope...we all are !!!!

wow! what can i say..my bf just brought over the 2 paradise lost....these boys are NOT guilty....and its scary to think the real killer is still out there!! Or as i think Mark Buyers - what a bloody nut job! there is way more evidence towards this man then all 3 men!! It makes me sick that these boys are still in jail 16 years later for a crime they did not commit for what they are wearing and what music they listened to! Half of young people today ...in my group wear black and listen to metal including myself and my bf ..a singer for a metal band....I really just wanna send my support from australia! and send us a comment back if there is anything we can do to try and help these young men and there familys...they are so far from australia....but australia support you like you wouldnt believe!!
