| The WESTMINSTER CHORUS is a young barbershop chorus based out of Orange County, California. Formed in the Spring of 2002, the chorus began with 15 members, averaging the age of 20. Since then, WESTMINSTER has grown to over 50 members, and gone on to capture the title of Far Western District Chorus Champion in 2003, 2005, and 2006 as well as placing 9th at the International Chorus Contest in 2004, 2nd in 2006 and 1st in 2007, all while keeping their average age in the mid twenties. WESTMINSTER is currently the youngest chorus to ever grace the International Barbershop stage. The Westminster Chorus was also honored to be invited to participate in NBC's second season of America's Got Talent. Our episode aired on June 19th of 2007, where we earned our place to compete in the Las Vegas stage of the show. Westminster is proud to have in its leadership, Pat Claypool, Sean Devine, Cory Hunt, and Shawn York, the current International Barbershop Quartet Champions, OC Times! Since the Barbershop Harmony Society was originally founded for the purposes of male fraternity, WESTMINSTER sought out to pattern their chorus likewise. Rehearsals are always on Sundays at 6:30 PM. The chorus rehearsals are very laid back, and always consist of the traditional (optional) "afterglow", at Friday's, followed by tag singing from multiple groups that can sometimes last longer than the rehearsal itself. No matter what their individual preference of music includes, members of the WESTMINSTER chorus come from all walks of life for one purpose: To sing at a very high skill level, and enjoy the company of other young singers who share this goal. If you are a college aged musician, and love to sing at a very high level, then the WESTMINSTER chorus is for YOU.
