About me:
We have an Intro to Stand Up Comedy class in December!
The Class is filling up quick, so sign up ASAP! Here is more info:
Intro to Stand Up with Kevin Garbee. Everyone has a sense of humor, and everyone also has their own unique way of sensing humor, or determining what they think is funny. The On-Ramp to Stand-Up focuses on teaching techniques and developing inner tools so that students can harness and embrace their own unique sense of humor. By letting go of preconceived notions of what comedy is and learning the importance of observation, students will tap into their own comedic voice: the first step to becoming a successful stand-up comedian. Using personal experience as a guide in a stress-free environment, students will write and perform stand-up material each week, and ultimately learn to pick their venue and develop an audience.
This class consists of six classroom weeks and one student performance.
($300): Tuesdays from 7pm - 10pm on, 12/9/08, 12/16/08, 1/06/09, 1/13/09, 1/20/09, 1/27/09.
ABOUT OUR STAND-UP TEACHER, KEVIN GARBEE
As a comedian, writer, and teacher, Kevin has been part of the Los Angeles creative community for the past eight years. He is a graduate of the Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television, a graduate of The Second City Conservatory, and has studied at ImprovOlympic, The Groundlings, and the Upright Citizens Brigade. He regularly performs as a stand-up, sketch, and improvisational comedian throughout Southern California, and he is the host of the popular Stand-Up LA show, which features some of L.A.’s best up-and-coming and professional comedians.

WHO WE ARE
The Westside Eclectic is the west side's hottest new comedy theater and creative community! Located on the 3rd Street Promenade, we offer a full calendar of classes and comedy shows almost every night. The Westside Eclectic began in 2006 as an improv school and live comedy venue in Los Angeles. Recently named by Variety as a top spot to scout talent in LA, we're committed to fostering a down-to-earth, supportive and professional environment for the talent we work with, and to also create opportunities for them to gain exposure and further their careers. Our improv and comedy classes are taught by some of the top performers in L.A., and most nights of the week we host stand-up, sketch, and improv shows featuring the best players in L.A.Õs comedy scene. In addition to our theater, we are also the home base to The Independent Comedy Network, which is dedicated to producing, licensing and distributing high-quality comedy content for the internet and beyond.

STAND-UP COMEDY @ THE WESTSIDE ECLECTIC Westside Eclectic is the Westside's biggest and brightest spot for Stand-Up Comedy! The Punk House is an all ages stand-up show hosted by Ed Galvez. LONG-FORM IMPROV @ THE WESTSIDE ECLECTIC The fellas from Great Adventure have been performing long form improv together all over the country for over three years now. They have taught and performed at theaters and festivals nation wide and have been a consistant power house at the Westside Eclectic since opening our doors in 2005.
