One of our friends has asked to continue the mission on Facebook so if you are interested please show your support. You can find the ‘Best of WV Fan Site’ under groups over there. You do not have to be her ‘friend’ to join the group. It is open to everyone. Don’t worry: I’m not planning on closing this site as long as there are friends who still support it here. Dec 13, 2008: I have just heard from Wanda (A West Virginian in York, SC) that her grandfather Jacob W. Currence passed away on the 17th of October this year. He was one of (If not the) oldest resident in WV and was just 16 days short of his 110th birthday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Wanda’s family. He was a treasure to them as well as to all West Virginians. God Bless! Annette Marie

As you may know I’ve been having computer troubles the last few months and while I am back on track I am still working to get a new photo program that allows me to create new WV graphics on here. I am also WORKING TWO JOBS NOW so it’s hard getting on here as much as I used to but instead of closing the page I hope you will understand if I do not get back with you as quickly as I used to or if I have missed your birthday. The 35th United State was the only to break from a Confederate State during the Civil War in 1863. HAPPY 145TH BIRTHDAY WEST VIRGINIA ON JUNE 20TH, 2008!
Because the majority of WV sits below the Mason-Dixon Line it is considered a southern state.
During the Civil War- soldiers filled both Union and Confederate ranks. Nicknamed the ‘Mountain State’ due to excessive ruggedness, WV citizens are mostly Democratic, maintain an alcoholic control state & disfavor the death penalty.
The largest city is the capital in Charleston and the state’s major resource relies on the mining of coal. The highest point is in Spruce Knob with the lowest along the Potomac River & border states include: VA, PA, OH, MD & KY.

Aug. 12 - Moved into our new home in Wisconsin . It is so beautiful here. The hills and river valleys are so picturesque. I have a beautiful old oak tree in my front yard. Can hardly wait to see the change in the seasons. This is truly God's Country.
Oct. 14 - Wisconsin is such a gorgeous place to live, one of the real special places on Earth. The leaves are turning a multitude of different colors. I love all of the shades of reds, oranges and yellows, they are so bright. I want to walk through all of the20beautiful hills and spot some white tail deer. They are so graceful, certainly they must be the most peaceful creatures on Earth. This must be paradise.
Nov. 11 - Deer season opens this week. I can't imagine why anyone would want to shoot these elegant animals. They are the very symbol of peace and tranquility here in Wisconsin . I hope it snows soon.

Dec. 2 - It snowed last night. I woke to the usual wonderful sight: everything covered in a beautiful blanket of white. The oak tree is magnificent. It looks like a postcard. We went out and swept the s now from the steps and driveway. The air is so crisp, clean and refreshing. We had a snowball fight. I won, and the snowplow came down the street. He must have gotten too close to the driveway because we had to go out and shovel the end of the driveway again. What a beautiful place. Nature in harmony.

Dec. 12 - More snow last night. I love it! The plow did his cute little trick again. What a rascal. A winter wonderland.

Dec. 19 - More snow - couldn't get out of the driveway to get to work in time. I'm exhausted from all of the shoveling.

Dec. 21 - More of that white shit coming down. I've got blisters on my hands and a kink in my back. I think that the snowplow driver waits around the corner until I'm done shoveling the driveway.
