WEST WESTON'S CUSTOM 'MARINE BAND' HARMONICAS
The Hohner Marine Band is by far the most famous diatonic harmonica in the world and is the choice of many top players who love its rich tone. This is the harp you will hear on all the classic blues records. Unfortunatly this great little instrument has always had a few problems that players do not like. The most common complaints are:
1. The pear wood comb is prone to swelling, cutting into your mouth and making playing very uncomfortable.
2. Being of a nailed construction, they can feel very "leaky" when played. Some being better than others.
3. You can not take the harmonica apart easily for cleaning or adjusting/tuning.
4. Replacement reed plates are not available, so once your harp has become out of tune you have to buy a complete new one.
WITH MY CUSTOM HARMONICAS ALL THESE PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED.
1. The pear wood comb is stripped of all varnish, reed plate mating sufaces sanded perfectly flat, all the corners rounded off and finally it is sealed with beeswax to prevent swelling.
2. Reed plates, comb and cover plates are drilled and tapped for a screwed, airtight construction.
3.This screwed assembly allows you to take the harmonica apart for cleaning / tuning.
4. My harps can be returned to me for new reed plates / servicing.
