Once upon a visit to the local gentlemen’s hair salon, it was noticed that the barbers hair was itself, lank, overgrown and listless.
"I'll be damned if I'm going to allow this atrocity the privilege of cutting my hair", I thought to myself.
I went out and bought myself a pair of stainless steel scissors that very day.
And thus it was that the barber became the trimmed...
“Sweeping atmospheric post punk in the vein of The Cure and Joy Division with a glittering coating of shoegaze” – The Bull and Gate
Formed in early 2009, Trim the Barber are a 4-piece based in Hackney, East London. Mixing thought-provoking lyrics with a lush and fuzzed-out, yet direct delivery, Trim the Barber bridge the gap between post-punk acts such as Joy Division and Wire with the blissed-out shoegaze of My Bloody Valentine.
January 2010 will see the release of the debut EP ‘Dead End Wall’, a 5 song statement of intent with a densely textured sound. Recorded during the fading Autumn months of 2009, the EP is a melancholic collection of recordings tinged with longing and sadness, anger and despondency at an often bleak and dismal, unjust world. Capturing the euphoric highs of an autonomous lifestyle outside of any particular genre or scene, Trim the Barber offer up their own brand of post/psych/pop/gaze with soaring melodic vocals, wailing feedback-soaked guitars and off-kilter drumming, the EP shows the diversity of the bands style as well as a intense degree of considered instrumentation and production.
After having taken a break from gigging over the past few months to concentrate on recording the forthcoming ‘Dead End Wall’ EP, the band are returning to the stage on the 17th December, playing at the Good Ship, Kilburn.
