I'm really saddened to hear about Capn' Pete. The First Time I ever hear Lighnin' Hopkins was on his show amongst other blues artists. Oddly enough I heard it from one of my friends in Washington DC
R.I.P. Cap'n Pete. We're shocked and in disbelief and we miss you so much. Thanks for all the blues and all your stories. There'll never be another one like you.

WEVL folks, sad sad news about Capn Pete. As a distant fan of WEVL I've probably heard him but I can't be sure. I mourn for y'all nonetheless. All the best from Durham NC.
Fridays will never be the same. It's by far my favorite line-up on WEVL -- rockabilly and blues. Listening to Cap'n Pete was a cultural experience that you can only get from someone who lived the blues the way the Captain did. It's one thing to listen to someone who's knowledgeable via books and interviews but quite another to hear it from a true witness. When the Captain wasn't on the air it just wasn't the same. I'm sure the guys who filled in for him understand. I'll be listening this Friday with a heavy heart.
Cap'n Pete will be missed.
