After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security, and you begin to learn that kisses aren't promises. and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child. and you learn to build all your roads on today, because tomorrows ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. after awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. so you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. and you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong and you really do have worth. and you learn and learn...with every goodbye you learn.
I’m sick of being written off because I look young, because I’m a girl, because I talk about wings, dreams and poetry. I’ve been standing guard vigilantly on top of a fortress of possibility, trying desperately to shoot arrows with dream-messages attached straight into the hearts of everyone who crosses my path. Now my arms are getting tired, and if I listen long enough to everyone trying to shout me down eventually, I’ll just take their advice and throw myself off the parapet.
I wanted to destroy something beautiful I'd never have. Burn the Amazon rain forests. Pump chlorofluorocarbons straight up to gobble the ozone. Open the dump valves on supertankers and uncap offshore oil wells. I wanted to kill all the fish I couldn't afford to eat, and smother the French beaches I'd never see.
I wanted the whole world to hit bottom.
Who I'd like to meet:
What I want is to be needed. What I need is to be indispensable to somebody. Who I need is somebody that will eat up all my free time, my ego, my attention. Somebody addicted to me. A mutual addiction.
