The Whaling Country Showcase is an Americana/Folk and Roots concert dedicated to presenting the Southcoast of Massachusetts with the finest in touring and local acoustic acts in a fun listening room environment. The concert is held in New Bedford, Ma and is located conveniently for touring bands between New York City and Boston. The Showcase originated in July of 2007 with a sell out crowd at New Bedford's Gallery X. The original showcase hosted bands from North Carolina, West Virgina, and New Bedford and Somerset Massachusetts. The series has garnered great reviews from local press and businesses and attracts crowds from a large swarth of the Southcoast of Massachusetts, Rhode island, the lower Cape, and Bristol, Essex, and Plymouth Counties. Bands who have played the series thus far include The Rust Kings, The Powder Kegs, Jeff and Benares, The Jethros, The Maybees, Joy Kills Sorrow, Brown Bird, Russ Mello, Wendy and the Lost Boys, and The Wild Rumpus. (See the band memebers section for a more extensive list).
May 5th 2009 was the kickoff date for the second season and November 6th will be the second date in '09 for the bi-annual Showcase. Join us Friday November 6th at the Old Tryworks Hall in New Bedford's First Unitarian Church. The last showcase was a sellout so get those tickets early and join in the fun. It will be Moby!

Can not believe I missed Joy Kills Sorrow, I played with members of that band at Local 121 last year, incredible! Keep me in the loop, thanks for bringing great music to town!
Just wanted to tell you that these showcases are excellent. Been to the last 3 and enjoyed them all. This time around I especially liked Joy Kills Sorrow. Hope to see you soon.
Thanks for the friendship & God Bless

The more I
worked on this song, the bigger it grew. When Hurricane Katrina ripped up New
Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama, it tore open our hearts too. What did we see?
It’s the four year anniversary now. Has enough been done?
That's pretty exciting to hear that I've got some words out there on the street floating around. And even better that they're good ones... haha Well anyone who knows me knows that I love the city of New Bedford and it'd be great if you could catch one of my shows! Or set me up with one! Gonna have to check out the Americana Showcase, maybe with my dad. Thanks for coming by and listening!
Ya I've been laying low. I keep hearing great thing about your accomplishments and need to make it a point to come to a show soon. Thanks for the invite.....I'll try my best!
So how about when you're done rocking out New Bedford style November 7th you head out to Providence and Drink and Draw with us..... Now that would be a good night for all!!!
