“Every moment in life inspires a musical memory or creation.” This is the belief of Gavin Harrison, a UK based producer and songwriter. He has been creating music since he was 15, gradually learning his craft, as he has grown older with all the experiences that brings.
In 2006 his path crossed with that of Jeff Caylor and led to their first collaboration ‘Perspective’, which featured on the album entitled ‘Okay’. “Perspective was born out of a troubled time for me, and Jeff’s lyrics somehow fitted perfectly how I was feeling at that moment. I knew then that something special was born.” All this despite Gavin and Jeff living in different countries, nearly 5000 miles apart! “The Internet has clearly been a valuable tool in our musical relationship and increasing friendship.”
Since their first workings together, life has continued to move on and the experiences have been coming thick and fast for Gavin. So when Jeff put the idea of working on a second album to him, he was only too pleased to accept with the intention of continuing to convey these experiences through the form of music. “I am trying to create landscapes in the music I write, allowing images to form in the listeners head. Each note from each instrument including the voice is telling a story, but this story can only come to life when heard.”
Although physically the distance between Gavin and Jeff may have increased with the latter’s move to Hong Kong, musically the relationship remains close. This is something reflected in the release of ‘What Birds Dream’ in 2009, followed closely by a remix album entitled 'Changing Everything: What Birds Dream (Remixed)'.
