The Super Bowl was yesterday (for those that live under a rock) but what most people are talking about today is not the actual game (which the Green Bay Packers won) but the musical performances involved.

    .

The big game opened with a rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” by Christina Aguilera— and as it turns out, Aguilera doesn’t know all the words to our country’s national anthem. Instead of singing the correct lyrics in the second stanza of “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming,” Aguilera instead wailed “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming”—which is the same line from earlier in the song but with the word “watched” instead of “hailed.” So, yah, Xtina flat-out flubbed it.

In a statement last night to the Associated Press, Aguilera said, “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.” Hmmm.. nice try, Christina.

The Black Eyed Peas later took the stage for their highly-anticipated halftime show, playing almost every song in their discography. The group transitioned from “I Gotta Feeling” to “Boom Boom Pow” before Slash emerged to play Guns N’ Roses‘ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” with Fergie, who may want to consider lip-syncing in the future. BEP continued with “Pump It” and “Let’s Get It Started,” which was followed by Usher descending from the rafters to perform “OMG” with will.i.am. The Peas closed with their new single “The Time (Dirty Bit).”

A few other musicians showed up during the Super Bowl— in the form of commercials. Justin Bieber’s anticipated Best Buy commercial with Ozzy Osbourne finally aired. In it, Ozzy asks, “What’s a Bieber?” which he actually asked a magazine reporter late last year.

    .

Eminem showed up in not one, but two Super Bowl ads— first as an animated character shelling Lipton Brisk Iced Tea and later in a Chrysler ad about Detroit. Diddy also made an appearance in a Mercedes-Benz ad. Take a look at the Super Bowl performances and commercials below.
