What’s going on, Azealia Banks? The up and coming rapper, who signed to Universal Music in January, reportedly cut ties with her new manager Troy Carter (who also represents Lady Gaga) and deleted her Twitter account. The rapper also wrote on her Tumblr page that she is “no longer wishing to be a rapper.”

Last week Carter confirmed to Billboard.biz that he has in fact severed ties with Banks. Carter said, “I can confirm that I ended the business relationship with Azealia last month on very amicable terms. She’s incredibly talented and I wish her nothing short of an amazing career.”

Following this news came the revelation that Banks had deleted her highly active Twitter account and posted a Tumblr entry titled “No Longer Wishing to be a Rapper.” In the post Banks wrote, “i never was…. and as soon as i started paying attention to bullshit urban media, i started getting myself in trouble. From now on i’m a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the ‘rap game’… or whatever the fuck that means… no more twitter for me… it makes me entirely too accessible. Catch me on tumblr… it’ll be more interesting.”

This apparently doesn’t mean Banks is totally out of the game, though. She added, “I’m still going to rap… I just don’t want the label and all the other crap that comes with the ‘rap game’… it’s boring. rather be a dance artist.”

Banks recently released an EP to much acclaim and her debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste, which was produced by Paul Epworth, is slated for release in September on Interscope. It’s unclear when these changes will affect that release. Banks added another post yesterday that said, “I’ve been working on so many things all at once ! Lol… The mixtape is coming together really REALLY well . I’m really excited about it. The video for ‘Liquorice’ will be out on Tuesday .. As will the physical version of the “1991” Ep & “Aquababe” !!!!!!”
