Matt Bomer is a serious heartthrob, and the fact that he’s not straight bothers me not a bit as it’s not like it’s any more productive for me to crush on, say, Ryan Gosling. In any case, the White Collar star will fulfil every girl’s fantasy this weekend when he strips down to his skivvies alongside Channing Tatum in the film Magic Mike. And though he’s got a very pretty face and — I’d imagine — a pretty nice body to go with it, he’s also got oodles of talent to back them both up. For this reason, I think the hunky Texan is poised to become the next Clooney. Want to know more?

Matt Bomer was born in (my hometown of) Spring, Texas. His dad was a draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys (swoon!). While in high school, Matt acted with Houston’s Alley Theatre, a non-profit theater company. For college, Matt left Texas to attend Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There, he received a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts.
    .

    .
Not long after moving to New York City post-college, Matt was awarded a small role on the soap All My Children. He then went on to play a larger role on the soap Guiding Light from 2001-2003. Matt quickly graduated to primetime, however, and he starred as Eliza Dushku’s love interest on Tru Calling from 2003-2004 and then North Shore from 2004-2005. In ‘05, he also starred opposite Jodie Foster in the film Flightplan.
    .

    .
In 2006, Matt starred in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. He was then cast as a recurring character on the show Chuck.
    .

    .
In 2009, Matt’s career caught a major break when he was cast as Neal Caffrey on the show White Collar, which been running ever since. While on the show, Matt has also appeared in films like In Time and on shows like Glee.
    .

    .
Matt will next be seen in the role of his career (we kid, but it’s definitely a monumental moment for those of us who get to watch him strip!), as he’ll be playing a male stripper alongside Channing Tatum in Magic Mike, which opens this weekend. Not to objectify him or anything, but we can think of few things we’d rather spend $10 on than watching that Matt Bomer take his clothes off.
    .

    .
Matt’s definitely one to watch in this film for obvious reasons, but he’s also this week’s “On the Rise” pick because he’s just too good-looking not to become a major, Tom-Cruise-esque box office draw. What do you think of Matt? Is he just another pretty face, or does he have the acting chops to go to the top of the A-list? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

He has got the acting chops indeed. And that is just from seeing him in the white collar episodes.

Matt's already on my A-list -- and the more diverse the projects he does, the more people who are going to see his talent. Looking forward to Magic Mike, and new White Collar in July!
