The kids of ‘The Glee Project’ are starting to reveal themselves and tonight, one of my favorites was sent home. Right now, I must admit, I am sad. We’ll get to that in a minute, because we have a whole show to recap. And the theme is… sexuality! Ooooh, that’s a good one. Aylin was excited about it. I like Aylin, she was an early favorite of mine, but she’s leaning on her sexuality a bit too much, a fact Lily mentions and some of the judges have become privy to as well. We’ll see how it plays out, but she may need to tone it down. SHE’S GETTING CHARLIE IN TROUBLE FOR GOODNESS SAKE!

The “homework” assignment was “I Wanna Sex You Up” by Color Me Badd. Most of the kids on ‘The Glee Project’ weren’t even born when that song came out, which is very troubling to someone who had the cassette single and saw ‘New Jack City’ in the theater! It was fine. Charlie won! He got a one on one meeting with Naya Rivera. I think winning these homework assignments is becoming a negative, as Charlie is the second (of only four mind you) contestant to have to sing for his life after the “big win.”
    .
Two contestants struggled with “sexuality.” They were Nellie and Tyler. One of these two managed to find the confidence to absolutely nail it – and be the first contestant called back – while the other was sent home. Frowny face emoticon. Alright, spoiler alert – Tyler was eliminated. He just couldn’t grasp the sexuality because it’s new to him. He should’ve been given another chance. I know, I know it was his third strike, but he was starting to find himself and his last chance performance of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile” gave me chills. I’m completely jumping ahead. I’m sorry. Back to one.
    .
We should talk about Charlie, again. Charlie was also forced to sing for his life and he did a particularly swaggeriffic version of “I Get A Kick Out Of You.” Full disclosure: I hated it. Everyone else loved it. I thought it was smug. Charlie had a rough week. He was pretty good performance-wise, but he just couldn’t get reign in his ever-irritating personality. Nikki was annoyed because he was unprofessional in the booth, flirting with Aylin – who, by the way is nowhere near as into him as he is her – and then during the music video – a mash-up (WOOOOOOO!!! MASH UP!!!! WOW!!!!) of ‘Moves Like Jagger’ (the worst) and ‘Milkshake’ (THE BEST!) he was trying to direct. Erik was very, very unhappy.
    .
Finally, Michael had a bad week in the booth and his last chance performance. He should have went home. No question. You will not convince me otherwise no matter what you say. ‘Glee’ is about overcoming obstacles and finding your best self, something that was challenging for Tyler, but something I saw in his future. I miss him already, but I did learn that he and Abraham are super close besties and that they’re actually roommates. That warms my cold, cold heart so very much!
