There’s no denying that Michael Ealy is something of a stud. Seriously…look at the man! We’ve been crushing on him for quite some time now (remember when he dated Halle Berry?!?), and we’ll probably go see Think Like a Man this weekend just so we can drool over him for two hours. Since we’re so obsessed, it wasn’t at all a chore to dig up a little history on Mr. Ealy — here is what we found:
Michael Ealy was born in Silver Spring, Maryland in 1973. As a child, Michael focused on athletics rather than acting. He played football and basketball for Springbrook High School. .
In 1990, when Michael was 17 years-old, he saw Denzel Washington in Mo’ Better Blues and became interested in acting for the first time. However, he was too scared to take the stage in high school productions. .
Michael attended the University of Maryland, where he majored in English. Of that time, he’s since said, “When I was in college I was an English major and my last year or so I tutored high school students in reading and writing. After I got into acting I said to myself, where does your real passion lie and if you do the teaching route will you say ‘what if?’ when you are 40 and regret that you didn’t act. I thought, Hell yeah, I would regret it.” .

After graduation, Michael took a leap and moved to New York to pursue acting. While taking classes and auditioning, he waited tables. This went on for several years. .

In 1999, Michael finally landed a role in the off-off-Broadway show “Whoa-Jack!”. He then appeared on stage a year later in another off-off-Broadway production of “J Fearless (A Fan Dance).” After toiling in obscurity for another year or so, he landed his first small role in the feature film Kissing Jessica Stein in 2001. .
It was his next role, however, that launched him to stardom. In 2002, Michael played Ricky Nash in the hit film Barbershop. .
The film’s success launched Michael’s career in a major way, and he’s since gone on to star in films that include 2 Fast 2 Furious, Barbershop 2: Back In Business, and Seven Pounds. He’s also starred in shows such as Californication, The Good Wife, and Common Law. .
Will you go and see Michael Ealy in Think Like a Man this weekend? .
