If you’re not familiar with Aloe Blacc you will be soon because his song “You Make Me Smile” is one of the most memorable jams we’ve heard in a while. Better yet we caught up with the singer on the set of the video for the song to get a behind the scenes interview about what inspired the tune.

“‘You Make Me Smile” is a song about the people in your life who get you through the tough times when things are rough and you’re feeling down [It's about] the people that you turn to to elite your spirits and help you through the hard times,” he explains, adding that his own nieces and nephews helped him reach this realization.

“A lot of my friends are struggling artists or struggling single parents trying to make ends meet to feed their kid so when I was thinking of how to present “You Make Me Smile” I had a few different ideas but because of the concept of a photographer is to capture those smiles and happy moments i thought perhaps I could play a struggling photographer,” he continues.
