• Shia LaBeouf Goes Full Frontal in a Trippy NSFW Music Video for Sigur Ros

Icelandic band Sigur Ros put out the order for twelve different filmmakers to tackle a song from their new album “Valtari” and create a music video, with each director getting $10,000 and instructions to simply shoot whatever inspired them from the music. This video for “Fjogur Piano” was directed by Israeli filmmaker Alma Har’el and stars Shia LaBeouf and Denna Thomsen as a couple caught in a neverending cycle of havoc. Remember the video for Eminem and Rihanna’s Love The Way You Lie? Picture an arthouse version of that, and with Shia LaBeouf naked.

In all seriousness, though, while the music sounds like something that would be playing in the background of an indie film, the visuals in this video are mesmerizing. While a lot of people may write it off as simply being “weird,” there is definitely a logic to the film’s narrative. After taking a drug-fueled trip thanks to some brightly lit lollipops, the main characters are placed in a room filled with butterflies. The imagery is beautiful, with LaBeouf’s character clearly in awe of the parallels between the beauty of his lover and the creatures they’re surrounded by on all sides. After a furniture-smashing breakdown, the story circles around on itself, ending where it began and making a statement about the cyclicality of relationships. The nudity isn’t used to flaunt anything, but instead to give us an understanding of the characters’ naked intimacy with each other. LaBeouf isn’t that kid from the Disney Channel anymore, and I can’t wait to see where his career goes in a post-Transformers world. Let us know what you think of the video in the comments below.
