If you’re getting tired of blockbuster coverage about Prometheus, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Amazing Spider-Man, here’s something a little more low-key that might interest you. It’s the first trailer for Take This Waltz, written and directed by acclaimed indie director Sarah Polley. The film stars Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, and Luke Kirby in a story of love, infidelity, and relationships that could be the antidote for superhero overload this summer.

I’ve gotta admit: infidelity in movies is really starting to become a cliche. It used to be a rare thing to see on screen, but now it’s like every third movie has someone cheating on their significant other, and I’m getting tired of it. Anyone else feel like this? Sound off in the comments. Take This Waltz is available right now on VOD and opens in theaters on June 19th, 2012.

Synopsis: When Margot (Michelle Williams), 28, meets Daniel (Luke Kirby), their chemistry is intense and immediate. But Margot suppresses her sudden attraction; she is happily married to Lou (Seth Rogen), a cookbook writer. When she learns that Daniel lives across the street from them, the certainty about her domestic life shatters. She and Daniel steal moments throughout the steaming Toronto summer, their eroticism heightened by their restraint. Swelteringly hot, bright and colorful like a bowl of fruit, TAKE THIS WALTZ leads us, laughing, through the familiar, but uncharted question of what long-term relationships do to love, sex, and our images of ourselves.
