It’s an uphill battle when a filmmaker decides to remake a classic film, but the upcoming remake of Carrie seems to be moving in the right direction. Director Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry) has secured two excellent actresses for the leads of the film: Chloe Moretz plays the title character, a shy girl who is ridiculed by her classmates at school, and Julianne Moore plays her religious fanatic mother, who is so overprotective that she occasionally locks Carrie in a closet in their house. Entertainment Weekly has the first two images from the film, which cover some of the iconic imagery as the original 1976 movie. Check ‘em out below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Carrie arrives in theaters on March 15th, 2013.

Synopsis: Director Kimberly Peirce reimagines Stephen King’s best-selling novel for MGM and Screen Gems’ take on the enduring genre classic. Starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore and Judy Greer, “Carrie” tells the supernatural tale of a telekinetic teenage girl tormented by her peers.
.
The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of “Carrie” earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.
Doubt we SEE an R rating CGMoretz is only 15 . Tampon scene never gonna happen.
Chloë Moretz and Julianne Moore might make it worth while but I doubt it will be better than the original.
what the hell movie is this?
Fuck remakes.
Banality
Nothing will never top the original film because it was raw--today's way of film making can't compare.
Yes there was a remake made for dvd and tv and it was weak - why make another one. Hollywood has ran out of ideas ...
AWSOME !!!!!!! THE HOOK SCENE... " THERE ALL GOING TO LAUGH AT YOU !!!!!!! " REPEAT !!!!!!!
It looks good but they already made a remake in 2002 with Angela Bettis. And also the first Carrie will always be the best but i wouldn't mind going to see this one it looks interesting.
Great bold film
