Listen to MxPx’s new album ‘Plans Within Plans’

2012 promises to be a big year for MxPx: The seminal pop punk band will celebrate their twentieth anniversary and will release their first full-length album in five years. Plans Within Plans, the band’s first studio album since 2007’s Secret Weapon — the longest gap to date between studio releases — hits the streets tomorrow but you can stream the entire album right now here on Myspace!
.
According to frontman Mike Herrera, the recording of Plans was bogged down by behind-the-scenes mayhem — sometimes too much for the vocalist/bassist to bear. “I was and still am literally flying off the rails trying to juggle all the jobs that need doing to keep this ship afloat,” Herrera recently said of his band. “I’m the captain going down with the ship…but just maybe we’ll make to land before we all drown.”
.
Any anxiety might stem from the band’s odd situation: Longtime bandmates Tom Wisniewski and Yuri Ruley recently took jobs at a shipyard in the band’s native Bremerton, Washington, forcing Herrera to tour with a different lineup who call themselves the MxPx All-Stars. Wisniewski and Ruley do however, play on Plans.
.
But some things, particularly the group’s sound, remains intact. The album’s first single, “Far Away,” is classic MxPX: hard-charging verses explode into a balls-to-the-wall, mega chorus. This should be a sigh of relief to their longtime fans. Because while MxPx may have undergone changes in recent times, twenty years after breaking onto the music scene, they’re still plowing ahead with the same ferocity as their young punk selves.

Plans within plans is tits!
Can't wait to hear the whole album!!! What I heard so far blew my mind already!!!
Happy 20 Years MxPx!! still the HARDEST working band ever.. not ALL people realize the work and time that goes into bringing QUALITY punk music.. keep kicking ass and taking names guys.. see you in June..
Their new single "Far Away" blows with so much intensity and punk rawk energy YOU MUST OWN THIS ALBUM! If you are fan of melodic edgy punk rawk this is the album to get. This band is one of the most honest, down to earth and hardest working/touring bands in history.
I've been a fan of MxPx for years and I was given the opportunity to get an early listen to the album and let me just say, it will blow your mind! By far one of the best albums I have heard from any band in quite a while. Do your ears a favor and pick up this cd. You will love it!
MXPX has shown time and time again that they are progressing like a real band should. You could be like all the rest of the bands that release the same album over and over again but MXPX is one of those bands that always find a way to reinvent their sound but still hit us with amazing melody and heart felt music. Their music is REAL and genuine and that is true success. They release what they want without caring about being famous or making a "hit" that is rare in today's music world. PICK THIS RECORD UP IT WILL MELT YOUR FACE OFF!
I've been a fan of this band for years. I've heard a couple tracks off the album so far and I love them! I can't wait to hear the rest. I'm not sure what North of the Sun is trying to accomplish here, but I've pretty much decided not to listen to their music.
THE REAL SIGH OF RELIEF WAS THE FIVE YEARS MXPX DIDNT PUT OUT MORE GARBAGE....NO ONE LIKES YOUR BAND, NOT EVEN REAL PUNK ROCK FANS SO PLEASE DONT BOTHER AND STOP...YOURE WORSE THAN BIEBER, AND YOURE EMBARASSING YOURSELVES, GO TOUR WITH SUM 41, WITH YOUR CHUNTI LEAD SINGER WHO SOUNDS GAY AS FUCK AND WAS KICKED IN THE BALLS
