What's In th Fridge? was formed in the winter of 1991 by frontman Joe Riot and bass player Ian James. Marc Davey joined the group 2 months later, replacing original drummer Matt Boucher. The band recorded a quick ep cassette (One Chromosome Short) and began packing clubs and rec halls all over New England with their brand of grunge metal and punk influence. While gigging out, their first ep was reaching the airwaves on stations such as WCGY 93.7 FM, where the track "What's in the fridge?" became the thirteenth most requested song of 1992.
The band later added another guitarist whos name we won't mention, for there is no reason too. Except to say he appeared on the bands second studio effort "Due to Incompetance".
Two more releases followed as well as more gigs, including sharing the stage with Geffen recording artists "Warrior Soul".
The last release from the band came in 1996 two years after the band went separate ways. It was called "No Apparent Motive". It was a fitting title, because the band split up on friendly terms in 1994 while being courted by a major label, and gigs lined up at legendary club CBGB's.
