Drink a Local @ The Wheaty
The Wheaty has dedicated one of its taps to the best South Australian brews from the best South Australian Microbreweries.
The Wheaty’s Local Micro Tap pours a handpicked Local Beer of the Month and punters have an opportunity to talk shop with the brewer on the 1st Wednesday of every month.
The next Local to return to our taps will be Lobethal Bierhaus followed by Brewboys (Regency), The Steam Exchange Brewery (Goolwa) and The Barossa Brewing Company (Greenock – currently pouring).
After earning their stripes in US craft breweries, local lads Alistair Turnbull and Phil Jones opened their all-grain Lobethal Bierhaus in May 2007, specialising in characterful, all natural, handcrafted small batch beers (www.bierhaus.com.au ).
In the words of Bierhaus brewer Alistair Turnbull, Lobethal’s IPA is “an intensely hopped, bitter golden-copper ale brewed using the finest available malted barley, a blend of British variety hops and traditional London ale yeasts. The malt bill is comprised of a blend of three different malts (Traditional Ale as the base and then Munich & Crystal as Specialties). To this Challenger hops are added early in the boil (for bitterness) and a combination of Fuggles, East Kent Goldings and a touch more Challenger are used later in the boil for flavour and aroma before fermenting with London Ale yeast. IBU’s are into the fifties.” Lobethal IPA was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2009 Australian International Beer Awards.
We’ll also be pouring a keg of Strong Golden Ale later in the month; “a rather warming, Belgian style strong golden ale, gentle on the hops and very fruity in character. Not for the faint hearted, this beer tips the scales at just over 10% Alc by volume.”
Drink Bierhaus IPA and Meet the Local Brewers from 6-8pm

UPCOMING GIGS:
**************************************************
FRI 27th - THE LONELY COSMONAUTS
The Lonely Cosmonauts don't fit into any category and are not part of any movement. They play blues but it's not the "four on the floor" abomination that passes for blues so often now. It's deep blues, from voices and slide guitar. They play Gospel. Six male voices giving it their all. Call and answer vocals in the real tradition of the genre. They love to sing. They play country but find Lee Kernaghan and his ilk repulsive. They do covers but the bulk of our material is original. They have a sense of humour and fun but the music is soulful and heartfelt.
SAT 28TH NOV - THE SATELLITES - 9pm
The Satellites have got the itch to get back on stage and belt out some of that raucous rockabilly and roots music that they're known for.. With the addition of their fantastic new guitarist Darren Hunt, things are really cooking..
So saddle up folks and join the party at the Wheaty when The Satellites hit the stage.
SUN 28th - BOB CORBETT BAND w MATT REINER
Award winning & highly entertaining, Bob Corbett delivers an adventurous & dynamic show. With acoustic guitar, great vocals, looping & a sense of fun, Bob jest-fully labels his sound as 'Polk' Music, a hybrid of pop, folk and country music. When performing with his band, the audience is treated to a rich 4-piece acoustic sound. It's like a mix of Alison Krauss' band, Union Station, meeting up with Paul Kelly and inviting Jackson Browne to sit in.
