THE STORY:

Remember the closing scene from Napoleon Dynamite, the film just voted Best Picture at the 2005 MTV movie awards? As Napoleon finds some sort of resolution in his offbeat, own private Idaho, 80s-throwback lifestyle, a haunting synth chord from that electro-decade surges to the soundtrack's surface and a classic piano phrase takes us into the end credits. The song is When In Rome's "The Promise", the signature tune for the movie,

with over 1.8 Million units sold world wide and is still getting regular airplay across the country in 57 major markets 18 years after hitting Billboards Top Ten. "The Promise" was also number 1 on BillBoards Hot 100 Dance Chart for 7 weeks as well. THE PROMISE is a certified Gold Record Hit. Two more hits reached the top 100 as well, Heaven Knows and Childs Play, all three hits released on their debut CD on Virgin records 1987-88

IN THE PAST:

When in Rome was a electro-dance trio from England that had a world wide hit with the single, "The Promise," in 1988. Composed of Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann on vocals, and Michael Floreale ..board, When in Rome released one self-titled album after the success of their debut single, that reached 1 on the Billboard Top 100 chart, before coming apart. The trio had previously been in a band named Leisure, with Corinne Drewery of Swing Out Sister. Floreale now lives in Dallas, Texas and is currently writing and recording a new  When In Rome  Album called: no title as of yet.  record is slated to be released on Musicwerks.

IN THE NOW:

Finally! A new When In Rome album and Tour!  When In Rome's Founding member, Michael Floreale, was approached by a major force in the music business to reform When In Rome, Michael recruited Electotic percussionist and Vocals Rob Juarez, former touring member of General Public and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (featuring Paul Humphrey) and keyboardist and Vocals Dave Schulz, former touring member of Goo Goo Dolls and The English Beat . The band toured in 2006 and 2007, sharing the stage with Animotion, Bow Wow Wow, Devo, Real Life, Dramarama, A Flock Of Seagulls and The Psychedelic Furs, among others. When In Rome will appear in the 2008 “Lost 80's Live” tour. An album of new songs is scheduled for release in late 2008 to follow up the re-mix albums ( When In Rome 1 & Burning Mixes, released on the MusicWerks label) which were made available for the 2006-07 tours.   the rest is now history, with a New Tour for 2008, Great and Amazing Things are about to happen.
