Mindfulness is not
only a technique or practice, but is concerned with the quality of wakeful
presence and the willingness to learn that we bring each moment in our lives.
It is saturated with sensitivity and curiosity, with the willingness to make
peace with all moments and all things, and the deep wish to be free wherever we
are. Mindfulness illuminates all things and all activities. It encourages
engagement and participation in each moment, and brings profound understanding
and awakening. It is deeper than a passing experience, but it embraces all
experiences without prejudice, finding balance and steadiness in the extremes
of our lives.
To educate yourself for the feeling of gratitude means to take nothing for granted, but to always seek out and value the kind that will stand behind the action. Nothing that is done for you is a matter of course. Everything originates in a will for the good, which is directed at you. Train yourself never to put off the word or action for the expression of gratitude.
Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy -- because we will always want to have something else or something more.
Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.
Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.
To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven.
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
Kindness trumps greed: it asks for sharing. Kindness trumps fear: it calls forth gratefulness and love. Kindness trumps even stupidity, for with sharing and love, one learns.
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Fear of the unknown is our greatest fear. Many of us would enter a tiger's lair before we would enter a dark cave. While caution is a useful instinct, we lose many opportunities and much of the adventure of life if we fail to support the curious explorer within us. Stopping by to send some L&L your way... Much <3 Joanie
