There are so many books I like, I cant even begin to name them all. And I go through them so fast, but I hate it when I don't have a book to read..... I love books, I have tons. I read ALL the time. It's like your in a whole new world, were things going on in your life just don't matter, they fade away. And with a good author, you feel as if you personally know the character, you can see in your minds eye everything that's going on. Like a movie, but with so much more detail. With so many books I will laugh and cry along with the characters.

FFA Poem by Elizabeth McKenie :
What It Means
Blue corduroy jacket, black dress skirt, a blue scarf, and a white button-up shirt. Overall, it’s quite a sharp outfit, and there are many who are truly proud of it.
This is an outfit that you may have seen, perhaps at a banquet, or while buying tangerines. FFA members wear this official dress, eager for achievement and success.
FFA members are more than they seem. But to be one, more than a few know what it means. It’s being a leader, always doing your best, working as a team, right along with the rest.
It’s standing up tall, bursting with pride, helping those that others may have denied. It’s making sure the job gets done, doing all the things it takes to be number one.
It’s being trustworthy, honest, and sincere, and looking forward to an agricultural career. It’s having faith, and knowing what’s right, using your manners, and being polite.
It’s not about being popular or smart, but how everyone can do his or her part. It’s supporting fellow members, showing you care, not always winning, but always playing fair.
It’s smiling while receiving second place, congratulating the winner with the utmost grace. It’s knowing that you make a difference, and try your hardest at competitions.
It’s knowing there’s always a fence to mend, manure to dump, and cows to tend. Record books to fill out and complete, and trying to find spare time to sleep.
It’s about possessing character, strength, and spirit, that when you’re mistaken, it’s okay to admit it. It’s being prepared for whatever may come your way.
It’s understanding just what it means to be in the FFA.
I'm a person of DREAMS. If you have a dream, go and follow it. Don't let people tell you otherwise. Set your goals, and fly to them. I love goals, I have many.
To live my life to the fullest, love to the fullest, be the best person I can, become a FFA state officer/possibly national officer, impact peoples lives, place in top 10 at ADGA Nationals, Go to FFA National Convention, continue as a chapter and district FFA officer, attend collage at WSU, and many others.
FFA is my LIFE. I don't know what I would do without it. I'm scared to think of the type of person I may have became without it. I think my speech for District office best explains just what the FFA means to me:
Beaning in FFA means something different to everyone. Wither it be participating in CDE's, learning leadership skills, or even hanging out with some pretty amazing people. It's those memories that have gathered in your mind throughout the years.
To me, FFA means this and much more. It's about becoming a better person, it's using the skills you have learned through FFA throughout your entire life. It seems just like yesterday when I attended my first District III leadership camp, I remember it so vividly.
Everyone has one of those turning points in there life. Attending DLC was mine. In attending DLC I not only learned leadership skills, but I learned about myself, and just how much FFA officers can impact a persons life.
That last day, that last session. it was no ordinary session. It was a session on sharing what we learned and how attending DLC made a difference.
I swear there was not a dry eye in the place. People shared some really amazing things with us all. I sat there crying my eyes out. Crying my eyes out for these people that I had met just that weekend.
As I sat there it dawned upon me just how much FFA officers can make an impact on a persons life. Not only hearing how others were impacted, but how I was impacted.
Because of the FFA I have grown into the type of person I've always wanted to be. A person that's not too afraid to go out and try new things, talk to know people, and to get out of that comfort zone. I want to make a difference. Make an impact on peoples life's as past and current FFA officers have in mine.
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse,"
or,”that's a lot of money for just a horse".
They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the
costs involved for "just a horse." Some of my proudest moments have come about
with "just a horse."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did
not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about
by "just a horse," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just
a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a horse," then you will probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust,
and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a horse" brings out the compassion and
patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will
rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of
all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past,
and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but
the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman/man."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a horse" just smile, because
they "just" don't understand.
The War Horse
Imagine yourself as a participant in "Braveheart." Facing battle, what do you want in a mount? What is going to give you the best chance to survive?
Your horse has to be courageous. You cannot afford to have a spooky mount that's going to be more frightened than you are.
Your horse has to be agile. You're facing hand-to-hand combat. Your horse needs to be able to maneuver easily. A short back will make it easier for him to turn quickly. Your horse must work from his hind quarters. He must have plenty of natural impulsion or he can't move quickly enough.
Your horse has to be strong, with plenty of stamina. And, if you are lucky enough to have some armor, your horse must be a smooth mover or you are going to be bruised plenty from the ride.
Your horse must be able to jump, with little preparation time. He must be bold enough to jump obstacles that he has never seen before, and he cannot hesitate.
And, finally, if you survive, your horse has to serve a useful purpose after the warring days. He must be able to work under harness to pull a wagon, or a plow. He must be sane and sensible and able to work safely around family members.
Such is the legacy of the Shire breed. Bred for war, retired to farm.
hey! so i rode honor on friday, and he did great! we went through all the gaits, and he behaved very well. we also just walked around melinda's field. anyway, i was wondering if he could possibly go in another field, or if we can work it so you get him out before i come over? i can't deal with the llama, lol. i'm just not that brave. it took me and both my parents to do it, so ya. i'll be over next friday... not a hurry, but once we get to an arena i think he'll make quick progress. he's not giving me any trouble at all.
